Did you know... Early records of the Skye Games date back to 1877. It was held first in September, then after 1881, in August. In those days, many visitors came to Skye in fine, big yachts and the Games included a regatta with skiff races for the yachts. By the Games day of 1879 the regatta was attracting boats from all the airts, and Portree harbour became a vivid display of bunting. In the evening all of the vessels lit up, and a firework display soared through the darkening sky. The yacht of Mr Herbert Wood of Raasay was prominent among the prizewinners.

We still hold sailing races during games week - See you on Monday at 6pm for dinghy sailing and Tuesday at noon for keelboats.
