💙 Remembering "Mr Portsmouth" — Alan Knight MBE 💙

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Alan Knight. He was a true football legend with 801 appearances for Pompey, but more importantly, he was a great man who did an immense amount of good for our community and the City of Portsmouth.

Like many across the city everone felt they knew Alan personally. An ever present and with genuine time for everyone. We will always value the moments he gave us from sharing stories about his time staying at Ashbys during those famous Alan Ball days when the team frequented the guest house. What ever the cause, or occasion. He was always incredibly generous with his time, always warm, and treated everyone he met with equal respect.

Our sincere condolences go out to his wife Judy and all of his family during this difficult time.

Thank you, Alan, for your incredible service to the club, the community, and for the memories.

Rest in peace, Legend. 🕊️💙

What an absolute pleasure hosting the team from Adrian Flux Insurance Services—the UK's largest specialist motor insurance broker—after their epic day out at the iconic Goodwood Motor Circuit yesterday! 🏎️💨

It sounds like it was an awesome Monday. They spent the morning taking a rugged Land Rover Series 2 off-roading around the Goodwood estate, before tearing up the tarmac in a Mercedes-AMG GTR and an Alpine A110 R in the afternoon. 😍
We are thrilled they chose Ashby’s as their pitstop to unwind and relax after all that action. A huge thank you to Adrian Flux and Fluential for booking with us! 🛌🙌

A massive thank you to the incredible organisers at Victorious Festival for booking Ashbys. It was an absolute pleasure to host your influencers over the Bank Holiday weekend for the Festival on Southsea Common!

A bit of classic British wind and rain certainly didn't dampen the spirits. If anything, the unpredictable weather provided a brilliant, moody backdrop for some truly unforgettable coastal sets over the weekend! 🌊☁️

From Richard Ashcroft and Faithless bringing the energy on Friday, to Nile Rodgers & CHIC and The Black Keys rocking the Common Stage on Saturday, right through to The Enemy, Kasabian and The Streets closing things out on Sunday—it was a weekend for the books. 🎶🙌

What a week it’s been at Ashbys Accommodation & Spa. ❤️

One of the greatest privileges of what we do is that we’re invited into some of life’s most memorable moments. As hosts, we don’t just provide a place to stay – we get to play a small part in celebrations, reunions, achievements and unforgettable experiences.

Over the past week we’ve been incredibly lucky to welcome guests visiting Portsmouth & Southsea for some fantastic events. We were especially delighted to host the sponsors of the French SailGP Team as they visited Portsmouth for the spectacular SailGP event, alongside so many other visitors enjoying everything our amazing city has to offer.

Graduation week has filled Ashbys with proud parents, excited graduates and families celebrating years of hard work. At the same time, the return of HMS Prince of Wales brought some truly emotional homecomings, with families reunited after months apart. Seeing those smiles, hugs and happy tears reminds us why we love what we do.

The Portsmouth 100 celebrations have added another special atmosphere across the city, and we’re proud to play our own small part in welcoming visitors and helping create lasting memories.

Thank you to every guest who has chosen to stay with us and for the wonderful feedback you’ve shared. It genuinely means the world to us.
