New Venue in Hambleton

We're pleased to say that we have a new venue. Ryecroft Hambleton is a microbar and coffee bar located next to the new Co-op. As it was Tony's birthday, it gave us a good excuse to check it out.

We loved it. Serving good beer, cocktails and wine with a lovely ambiance and a great team, what's not to like. We tried a few nibbles - stuffed peppers, olives, sourdough and a balsamic dip. All really tasty. Cherry Sour cocktail (2 for £13.50 during happy hour).

We were lucky that there was a singer on which added to the ambiance.

We'll definitely be back.

Happy weekend everyone.

This is the view from Blackberry this morning. The guests are loving seeing the lambs, especially when they are leaping around. It's such a quiet location, which makes it a great place to relax and unwind.

We are fully accessible with lots of equipment. Did you know that we don't charge for 99% of the equipment, which we know makes a big difference to the cost of a break. We have profiling beds, hoists, various shower chairs, toilet frames, sit to stand, rise and recline chairs and lots more.

We are pet friendly too.

Many of our lambs and ewes are in the small paddock in front of the chalets, so you'll get to see them playing.

Happy weekend everyone. We are due to start lambing around Monday, so lamb photos and updates to follow.

In case anyone is looking for a holiday, we have a couple of available dates coming up. Bramble 28th April and Blackberry 8th May.

We are located in Hambleton, Lancashire just 20 minutes from Blackpool. We are set in a 10 acre field in a quiet location, but only 1 mile from local shops and pub. Sad news about Fleetwood to Knott End Ferry.

We know our guests loved this service. 😔

Important Information on the Fleetwood–Knott End Ferry Service

Wyre Council has today confirmed that the Fleetwood–Knott End ferry service is due to end on 15 April 2026. The Council remains in discussion with the current operator, Wyre Marine Services, regarding the future of the service.

Over the past 18 months, the Council, working closely with Lancashire County Council, who jointly subsidise the existing service, has taken extensive steps to secure the long term future of the ferry. This has included early market engagement, a formal open tender process in accordance with the Procurement Act 2023, and detailed discussions with organisations that expressed an interest in operating the service.

Unfortunately, no compliant tenders were received, and subsequent discussions have not yet identified a financially viable and deliverable proposal that would allow the service to continue beyond the current contract.

If the service does not continue past 15 April 2026, the Council remains committed to exploring alternative options, including discussions with potential future operators and reviewing how existing Council assets could help support any future service.

We recognise the ferry is an important part of daily life for many residents, businesses and visitors. The Council will continue to work with partners and will keep the community informed of any developments.

Well what a weekend. We didn't win, but we had a great time at the local senior Latin American and Ballroom championship. Nice to get Tony out of his overalls again.

Meet purchase No. 3. The Freeway T50 shower chair.

This is a self propelled chair with larger front wheels. As we have wall hung toilets, the shower chairs with the large wheels at the back, don't go back far enough. This is the best one we have found to date, but it won't be until it is user tested before we are 100% certain that it is of help.🤞

The seat can be turned so the hole is at the back or front. I know that this is important for some guests.

We can't wait for it to be tested out, and hope 🙏 that it is of help to maintain guest independence.

We are always looking at ways to improve.
