Just a 20-minute drive from Bowland Escapes you’ll find one of Lancashire’s most beautiful riverside walks 🌿 the famous Tolkien Trail.

Especially stunning through spring and summer, this scenic route follows quiet woodland paths, rolling countryside and the banks of the River Ribble & River Hodder - with historic gems like Cromwell’s Bridge hidden along the way.

The is famously linked to J. R. R. Tolkien, who is said to have regularly explored this area during his time at nearby Stonyhurst College 🎓📚 with many believing the landscapes helped inspire parts of The Lord of the Rings.

Thanks to Danny for the fabulous review after 4 nights in our rather romantic Pendle lodge. 💕

"Had a fantastic stay in Pendle Hill lodge late April 26 for 4 nights. The lodge had practically everything you could need.

The hot tub and log fire were both amazing. The bi-folding doors really open the place up when the suns shining.

The staff onsite couldn't do enough to make our stay perfect.

We loved the super king size mattress so much that we've ordered the exact same one for our home.

We went on a couple of great walks to Stocks Reservoir and Gisburn Forest.

Would love to return soon."
