Freemasonry runs the world? ... Far from it.
Freemasonry in reality couldn't run without hard working volunteers who dedicate their time to making everything work. That's the first lesson you learn when you go into the chair.
There's no cupboard full of people ready to jump in at a minutes notice (contrary to popular belief).
There's no endless bar that restocks itself.
There's no magical fairies that come in and clean the lodge after meetings and events while everyone else is worse for wear.
The Temple doesn't arrange itself for different orders overnight.
The RWM doesn't clean up like that scene from Matilda.
Just dedicated Brethren and their families that keep everything running.
So this Volunteers Week would like to thank everyone who takes a bit of their time to contribute to ours (and your own) lodge.
We appreciate your hard work and efforts throughout the year!
