If you like sleek, identical hotel rooms, perfectly straight walls and that Travelodge or Premier Inn styling… then Rhosydd Bach probably isn’t for you.

We like to call ourselves quirky.

Others have called us quirky too, and after all these years, I’m quite happy with that.

Rhosydd Bach is an old place — well, built in 1901 to be precise. It has history, character, and plenty of little imperfections that remind you it's been standing here for over 125 years.

We have bare stone walls, original slate window sills, crooked floors, wonky corners and the odd creak here and there. And yes, with an old property, there may even be the occasional cobweb hiding somewhere we haven’t spotted.

But do you know what?

That’s Rhosydd Bach.

We could try to make everything perfectly straight, perfectly matching and perfectly polished. But somewhere along the way, I think we’d lose a little bit of what makes this place special.

Even getting here is part of it.

Our long, unmade country track winds its way towards Rhosydd Bach, taking you away from the main road and into our little corner of rural Pen Llŷn. It may be a little bumpy in places, but perhaps that’s part of the charm — with every yard you travel, the noise and rush of everyday life seems to get a little further behind you.

And then you arrive.

Over the years, these old buildings have become a place where people come together.

Children have grown up here with us, families have celebrated birthdays and anniversaries here, and friends who don’t see each other enough have stayed up far too late talking, laughing, and putting the world to rights over a bottle of w**e.

There have been muddy boots by the door after a day exploring Pen Llŷn, sandy shoes after the beach, dogs exhausted after a long walk and countless cups of tea enjoyed while deciding what to do tomorrow.

That, for us, is what Rhosydd Bach is really about.

Not perfection.

People, time together and memories.

So no, Rhosydd Bach certainly isn’t perfect.

Neither are we.

But perhaps that’s the whole point.

Bring your family. Bring your friends. Bring the dog.

Come down our little country track, enjoy our crooked floors and old stone walls, and discover our little corner of Pen Llŷn.

And create a few perfectly imperfect memories of your own. ❤️
