Do you love history?

Holcombe Old Church just a few miles from the Roundhouse & is steeped in local history and definitely worth a visit.

The church is surrounded by beautiful countryside and woodland ( with a beautiful pond)

On the slightly macabre side, it’s also on a burial site from the Plague in 1348 and legend has it , it’s where the nursery rhyme ‘Ring a Ring o’ Roses ‘ began.

Explorer Captain Robert Falcon Scott’s family memorial is located at the rear of the church although he isn’t actually buried there. There is also a grave at the front, designed by his mother, for five children who drowned in a nearby lake.

It is regularly used as a film location, most recently in Poldark

The church is no longer in use but you can pick the keys up from The Holcombe Inn if you’d like to look inside.

🌍 In homage to Earth Day .. and everything organic & sustainable ..

Meet our Jersey cow August, and her third calf - a bull called Wednesday!

He's five months old and shared his milk with Brock, who milks August every day.

August’s milk is filtered and used for drinking, cheese & yoghurt.

The benefits of raw milk (not pasteurised and homogenised ) include

🥛An excellent source of easy-to-digest vitamins and minerals

🐄 A good source of vitamin A, magnesium, zinc and thiamine

🥛 An excellent source of protein and contains hundreds of different healthy fatty acids

🍀Grass fed cow's milk (which ours is) contain higher amounts of beneficial anti-oxidants such as vitamin E and beta-carotene which help reduce inflammation and fight oxidative stress.

Totally organic & 💯 delicious ❤️

Have you ever had raw milk ?

What are you looking forward to this Christmas ?

What ever it is never underestimate the value of time spent with loved ones.

And even if you can’t be with all of them this year, remember to make that call .
It might make someone’s Christmas to know they are in your thoughts .

We’ve had a new arrival!

Baby boy born Weds18th November approx 9.30pm .

I was in bed and heard mum mooing - but not the ordinarly sounding moo!

Brock and I went out in the dark with a torch and there he was, newly born in the grass - a healthy boy.

This pic is of him a week old with his mum and big brother (not dad!)

They're a happy family and live with aunty too.

Ordinarily calves are removed from their mum's at about 12 hours, debudded (an injection to stop horns growing) and then weaned on synthetic milk. Horrid. None of that here - they'll live together as a family and we might even try milking mum in a couple of months!

All we need now is a name for our new boy.
Any suggestions ??? ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

Autum colours in Somerset.

The contrasting blues, greens and oranges are really eye catching.

Walking in the countryside really blows the cobwebs away and makes you feel humble, grateful & glad to be alive.

We hope, when the pandemic is over, you guys will get a chance to come & stay with us & experience this for yourselves.

Give us a call or book online to reserve your little piece of Somerset .
