The Moor of Rannoch is a restaurant with rooms situated beside Rannoch Station on the West Highland Railway Line. Surrounded by the rugged landscape of Rannoch Moor covering some 130km2. Often described as one of the last true wildernesses in Europe, the area is a vast stretch of land composed of blanket bog, lochans, rivers and rocky outcrops. The Moor of Rannoch is a warm cosy retreat offering a

chance to relax, unwind & recharge. It is perfect for those wishing a haven from the fast paced modern world or equally adventurous explorers keen to sample this unique part of the Scottish landscape. We do not have any TV’s or internet access and there are no phones in the guest rooms. Mobile phone reception also varies from very poor to non existent. To make up for this we have a large selection of books, games and jigsaws and the lounges feature open fires and wood burning stoves. There is also a good range of Malt Whisky to help pass the evenings.

We have been working behind the scenes with Aim Design on the next chapter for Moor of Rannoch Restaurant & Rooms
~ 5 new staff studios
~ deer larder & butchery
~ tourism facilities for Rannoch Station including accessible toilets, waste disposal, dog wash, bike maintenance, drinking water fountains, free wifi, mobile phone charging, ebike charging...... and some tasty local venison both on site and for retail.

Each year Steph make small changes to the menu format. This year, the first bite has changed from yesterday's taco to yesterday's tart... same concept.. using up something from the previous day's menu and great flavour!

We recently had a bit of a dilemma when a local 17 year old applied to join our expanding team in a part time role.

The National Minimum Wage for a 17 year old is £8.00 per hour but the rest of our team all earn in excess of the Real Living Wage which is set at £13.45

Same job... lower wage. It didn't seem right to us.

Therefore, we have taken the decision to become accredited as a Living Wage Employer by

The simple fact is everyone needs to be able to live with dignity and have a decent standard of living. Workers need decent pay to thrive.

Earning the real Living Wage, as opposed to the government’s national minimum wage, makes a huge difference to workers.

Scott & Steph are committed to ensure that everyone who works with us, regardless of age or contract type, are paid at least the real living wage.
