"Storm, what storm?"

"Not at the moment no, we've been on the brink of it once or twice during the last week but we've stepped back from it. There is no point in declaring a storm, we've had 6 storms in the last few months. A storm means that we intend to keep the essential life of the campsite going and of course that is our first responsibility and we shall do so. As you may know, plans for that are always ready, those contingency plans when we could see troubles looming ahead were made before Whitsunday, so that there was nothing new that we had to do in that field."

My garment is silent when I tread upon the earth
or reside in my dwelling or stir up the waters.
Sometimes my apparel and this high air
lift me over the dwellings of men,
and the strength of the clouds carries me far
over the people. My ornaments
resound loudly and make music,
sing clearly, when I am not resting on
water and ground, a travelling spirit.

We are pleased to say that we can confirm we will be opening again this year from Friday the 23rd of June to Sunday the 3rd of September.
It seems strange to be thinking of a summer spent camping whilst the thermometer flirts with freezing but, if you are one to plan things early this year, do book online at

It is now time to bid farewell to another year of camping in what has been a blistering summer filled with much fun and many tales. We hope the winter keeps you well and we look forward to seeing you all again next year.

Due to the government's weather warning we have decided to ban fires this week on the campsite. BBQs will still be allowed but unfortunately the lighting of fires for light, warmth, or Zoroastrian worship will not be permitted.

Happy St Swithun's Day (15th of July), we are hoping that the old proverb has some truth to it and that the fine weather we are having continues for quite some time yet!

'St. Swithun's day if thou dost rain
For forty days it will remain
St. Swithun's day if thou be fair
For forty days 'twill rain nae mare'

Due to the continued hot weather over the past few weeks we have taken the decision to not allow campfires this weekend. This is in the interests of all and is an attempt to prevent an inferno ripping through the Berkshire countryside.
