🍂 **AUTUMN QUESTION… BEACH OR WOODS?** 🍂

When autumn arrives, which would you choose? 👇

🌊 A crisp walk along the beach, wrapped up warm with the sound of the waves…

OR

🍁 A beautiful woodland walk, surrounded by autumn colours, crunchy leaves and your four-legged friend happily sniffing every tree? 🐾

Personally, we think Marske-by-the-Sea gives you the best of both! 🤎

September is here, the evenings are getting cosier and it’s the perfect time to start thinking about your autumn and winter getaway.

Out next available date is October half term 23rd-30th October,🏡🌊

Picture your days exploring the coast and woods, followed by muddy boots, happy dogs and tired legs… then heading home to warm up and enjoying a cozy evening listening to the sea🌊🌊

There’s something magical about an autumn or winter break, crisp fresh air, beautiful scenery and those lovely slow evenings where you can simply relax and enjoy being together. ❤️

And if you’re a dog owner, autumn really is a wonderful time to get away. 🍂✨

So, tell us…

**🌊 BEACH WALK or 🍁 WOODLAND WALK?**

🪚🔨Transformation Tuesday🔨🪚

Ann Sewell and her husband Colin bought Sandy Nook off a family member many years ago. They lived there happily for over 30 years. They adored chatting with locals on their way to the beach, watching the waves roll in, and enjoying what they always said was “one of the best views in Marske”, and we couldn’t agree more! 💙
Sandy Nook was the heart of the family, filled with laughter, birthdays, Christmases, and countless cherished memories, and it was so nice to welcome Chris Sewell back last week who recreated the happy times stopping here with his family.
After Ann and Colin sadly passed away in 2019 and 2022, their children Chris Sewell and Jackie Moses inherited Sandy Nook. They, along with Jackie’s son Steven and his property company, lovingly restored it once more, blending family history with modern comfort.
What started as a family home almost 75 years ago is now enjoying new chapter, welcoming guests to make their own seaside memories. 💫
We know that everyone who stays at Sandy Nook enjoys chatting with the locals, taking in the views, and creating special moments, just as the Sewell family has for generations. 🏖️

Heres some photos from
when Ann and Colin lived there and before the house became the Sandy Nook that we all know and love now ♥️♥️

Otis predicts 1-1 for England v Mexico with England winning on penalties ⚽️⚽️

He’s had a little day trip to Whitby today which is a must visit place when stopping at Sandy Nook, Seascape Cottage in Marske by the Sea, Moorsholm View or at Glenholme Apartments 🙌🙌

Whitby is one of North Yorkshire’s most atmospheric and characterful coastal towns, known for its dramatic cliffs, winding streets, and historic harbour that opens out onto the North Sea. It’s a place where fishing heritage meets seaside charm, with independent shops, excellent seafood (especially the famous fish and chips), and stunning walks along the coast in both directions.
One of Whitby’s most iconic landmarks is the Whale Bone Arch on the West Cliff. The bones are actually the jawbones of a huge Arctic whale, originally brought to Whitby in the 19th century when whaling was part of the town’s maritime industry. Today, they stand as a striking monument to Whitby’s seafaring past and offer one of the most photographed viewpoints in the area, perfectly framing the coastline and the abbey in the distance.
It’s also a brilliant place to visit because you get a bit of everything in a small area: sandy beaches, dramatic scenery, historic ruins like Whitby Abbey, and easy access to the surrounding North York Moors. Whether you’re exploring the harbour, climbing the 199 steps, or watching the sunset through the whale bones, Whitby has a mix of history, nature, and atmosphere that makes it stand out as one of the UK’s most memorable seaside destinations.
