🥾 Walk of the Month – Simonsbath to Lynmouth (Two Moors Way 50th Anniversary Walk) 🌿🎉

This June, we’re celebrating 50 years of the Two Moors Way by highlighting one of the most spectacular sections of the entire route — the final stage from Simonsbath to Lynmouth.

Crossing some of Exmoor’s most remote and dramatic landscapes, this unforgettable walk takes you through wild open moorland, past the source of the River Exe, historic Hoar Oak Cottage and along breathtaking valleys before arriving at the sea in Lynmouth. It’s a fitting finale to one of Devon’s most iconic long-distance trails.

🌿 What to expect:
• Vast open moorland across the remote Chains of Exmoor
• The source of the River Exe in Exmoor’s wild heartland
• Historic landmarks including Hoar Oak Cottage
• Stunning views across the East Lyn Valley
• A dramatic descent towards Lynmouth and the North Devon coast
• A true sense of adventure and wilderness

🎉 2026 marks 50 years of the Two Moors Way, officially opened in 1976 and connecting Dartmoor and Exmoor on one of England’s great long-distance walking routes.

The final section crosses Exmoor’s remotest country before descending through the steep-sided East Lyn Valley, with unforgettable views as the river tumbles towards the sea at Lynmouth.

Wow! Delicious 😋

Breakfast at The Vanilla Pod is far from ordinary.

Our Turkish Eggs are made with local free-range poached eggs, creamy yoghurt, chilli butter, wilted greens, roasted tomatoes and warm pitta for scooping it all up.

Rich, warming, generous, and just a little bit different.

Served here in the heart of Lynton, alongside proper coffee and a calm start to the day.

A fabulous addition to our neighbourhood🥂

On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, from 6pm, North Coast Café will become North Coast After Six.

A little calmer. A little more relaxed. A good place for food, a glass of wine, a cocktail, a hot drink, something sweet, or simply somewhere comfortable to sit for a while.

Our full daytime menu will still be available, alongside our Summer Evening Warmers, our soups, stews and hearty bowls served in the evening, with the kitchen open until 8pm.

North Coast After Six works just as well for a pre-dinner drink, a relaxed stop after fish and chips, a scone cream and jam after six, or a quieter evening visit if you did not get chance to see us during the day.

From 6pm, North Coast After Six is reserved for adults, with everyone very welcome during the day

Our official closing time is 8pm, though we will be staying open little later for hot drinks, wine or cocktails when the evening has a nice flow.

NOTE: We will be closed on Tuesday 23rd June 2026
