Autumn has arrived, and so has the Green Bear Guesthouse. We have finally framed the beautiful artwork provided by our lovely guests, and they look wonderful displayed in our guesthouse. We have also added new plants and pots, along with new bear-themed photos for the sofa in our snug area. We are delighted with the result and believe it creates a cozy space for our guests to enjoy. 🍁

🐻 An Update from The Green Bear
We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has recently followed, shared, enquired about, or booked a stay with us. We have experienced a wonderful surge in support over the past few weeks, and we are incredibly grateful.
As a result, we sincerely apologise if you've been waiting a little longer than usual for a reply. We are currently working through a high volume of messages and enquiries and will do our very best to respond to everyone within the next few days.
To ensure we can continue providing the warm, personal experience our guests know and love, we have made the difficult decision not to accept any further bookings for the remainder of this month. As a small family-run business, everything is managed by just the two of us, and recently, we've been working many 15-hour days, including several stretches of 20 consecutive days without a break.
Whilst we are incredibly thankful for your support, we're also mindful of the importance of looking after our own wellbeing and avoiding burnout. Taking a step back now will help us continue welcoming guests with the enthusiasm and care they deserve.
The good news is that we still have good availability throughout November and into the beginning of December, and we'd love to welcome you then.
We have also decided to close from 9th December until mid-January to spend some precious time with our family and enjoy a well-earned rest before returning refreshed for the new season.
Meeting so many wonderful guests, along with your equally wonderful dogs, has been one of the greatest joys of running The Green Bear. Thank you for your patience, kindness, and continued support. It truly means the world to us.

We’ve been spoiled with kindness this week. Sarah and her mum left us a gorgeous hare card and a handwritten poem after their stay in The Hare room. And Badger — our four‑legged guest — wrote us the funniest thank‑you note about treats, river swims and short car journeys. Feeling very grateful for the lovely people (and pups!) who come through our door.

Busy days, but I’ve been wanting to make a lemon dessert for one of our regulars who loves anything lemon.
Our new Vegan & Gluten‑Free Lemon Meringue Pie — sharp lemon, toasted Italian meringue, Green Bear medallion, raspberry sorbet.
Already requested again by returning guests.

Tonight’s dessert is a proper autumn treat:
Apple Tart Tatin with honeycomb ice cream, apple caramel and warm custard.
Slow‑caramelised apples, crisp pastry, and all the good things poured at the table.
Perfect after a chilly evening in Rhayader.
