Frith Lodge is a very special Bed and Breakfast situated on the Pennine Way above Keld, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Set in a stunning location with breathtaking views from every window and scenery that not only changes by the season, but sometimes by the minute! unge stocked with maps and walking guides and a boot room for cleaning and drying wet clothing and boots. All our meals are homemade by Karen and we have a licensed bar. We are an ideally located B&B if you are walking the Coast to Coast, Herriot Way, Pennine Way or Pennine Journey long distance trails. The track up to Frith Lodge is only accessible by 4×4 or on foot (or we can pick you up from the roadside). Whichever way you choose to arrive you will receive a genuinely warm welcome and experience a real sense of getting away from it all in this fabulous remote location. If you’re not on a long distance quest and just want peace, quiet and an amazing base for exploring this fantastic part of the Yorkshire Dales, Frith Lodge is perfectly located in idyllic isolation, with many circular walks to take right from the door.

Sixteen years ago today, we arrived at Robin Hood’s Bay at the end of Wainwright’s Coast to Coast. Weathered by the sun and the miles, totally elated, and completely unaware that the walk had quietly rerouted the course of our lives.

What began as a long-distance walk across England eventually led us to Keld, to Frith Lodge, to countless wonderful people, and ultimately to the pages of Coast to Coast and Halfway Between.

Looking back at that moment on the beach, little did we know it was just the end of the beginning.

Sixteen years ago today we set off from St Bees... can't believe how young we look and how much hair Neil had!!

We’ll always love the Coast to Coast for the landscapes and the journey itself, but more than anything, for the fabulous people it has brought into our lives.

It was the walk that first brought us to Keld and, ultimately, to Frith Lodge, a place and a life we could never have imagined when we first set off across England in 2010.
