What's the difference between a good holiday and a fabulous one?

It often comes down to the details.

Was the accommodation okay or outstanding?

Did it have everything you needed, or did you have to hunt high and low for what you thought should be there?

We pride ourselves on providing a home-from-home experience.

That's just one reason why so many of our guests come back again. They're confident we provide a base for a fabulous holiday.

Every year we like to remember the brave men and women who worked in and around Upton Grange.

82 years ago, in the summer of 1944, most of them were in the military.

A guest gave us a glimpse into what it was like here back then. Doris was one of the first to stay in the newly-converted holiday cottages, and she came for the 50th anniversary of D-Day.

Doris was stationed here during the Second World War, from 1943 to 1945. She was an โ€˜opsโ€™ girl, one of the team who manned the operations room. It was in the cow house, now occupied by Owlโ€™s Roost and Foxes Cottage.

Doris and her team monitored the movement of enemy aircraft, and vessels moving in the English Channel.

We'll always be grateful to the thousands of men and women who sacrificed so much in those years.

Photo is of reenactors on Weymouth seafront. Every June the town remembers the many Americans who left this area for the invasion of France in 1944.

We're big fans of Craig's Farm Dairy.

They're just along the road from us, and we buy their produce. We also put it into our self-catering cottages, for guests.

If you're passing, we recommend that you drop in on their tea room and shop. There are loads of local treats on offer.

The cows graze while looking at the amazing scenery of the Jurassic Coast. That's just one reason why their dairy products taste so good!

Cheeky!

He's got his eye on the biscuits and other treats laid out in our self-catering cottages.

So many of our guests love to refresh their spirit by walking the hills and coast around our self-catering cottages.

It helps that we're very close to the South West Coast Path, which is now part of the much longer King Charles III ๐Ÿ‘‘ England Coast Path.

Fresh air, movement and loads of natural scenery are all great ways to boost your wellbeing๐Ÿ˜€

Of course, it's even better when the sun is shining!โ˜€โ˜€๐Ÿ˜Ž

And then they were gone!

Our smallest guests are flown the nest - no doubt to make the most of the glorious weather this Bank Holiday weekend.

It's been a delight to share their time with us. We wish them well and perhaps one might return, with a mate, to use our little cottage to raise the next generation.

One of Dorset's hidden gems is tucked away behind Weymouth, in the village of Upwey.

It's where River Wey emerges from the ground to begin its short journey to the sea.

The Upwey Wishing Well, as it's known, has been popular with visitors for the last couple of centuries. It's said King George III dropped in to drink the waters.

Today it's home to a delightful tearoom, allowing you to enjoy this tranquil spot with a cuppa and cake.

How our are tiniest guests coming along?

It looks like they might be venturing outside sometime soon, into the glorious Dorset countryside.

Great timing, because there's lots of sunshine forecast.โ˜€โ˜€โ˜€
