🚛 **Ready for the Week Ahead!** 💪

When our customers arrived on site this morning, everything was ready to go – and that's thanks to the hard work of our team over the weekend.

Early on Saturday morning, members of the SHC Hire Centres team were busy moving equipment between our depots, ensuring machines were in the right place and ready for first thing Monday morning deliveries.

It's this behind-the-scenes teamwork and commitment that helps us keep our promises to customers, minimise downtime and provide the reliable service we're proud to be known for.

A huge thank you to everyone who gave up part of their weekend to make it happen. Your dedication and willingness to go the extra mile is what makes SHC Hire Centres different.

🚜🔧 MEET THE TEAM – Matt Harrison 🔧🚜

This week we’re shining the spotlight on Matt Harrison, Workshop Mechanic at our Northallerton depot.

Matt first joined SHC back in March 2004 as a mechanic at our Ripon depot. It quickly became clear that his work ethic, dedication, and mechanical skill would make him a huge asset to the business. Over the next 6 years, Matt made the workshop his own and became a key member of the SHC team.

In 2010, Matt sadly suffered a serious bike accident which badly affected his ability to continue working as a mechanic. Although he tried a couple of different roles within the business, his passion was always being on the tools, and in 2011 he made the difficult decision to move on and try something new.

Fast forward to 2021, and Matt was back to full strength and ready to return to the trade he loves. We were absolutely delighted to welcome him back to SHC at our Northallerton depot — and from the moment he returned, it was like he had never been away.

Since coming back, Matt has transformed the Northallerton workshop, helping it run like clockwork. He has also successfully mentored the first apprentice the Northallerton depot has ever had and now helps oversee two workshops within the business.

Outside of work, family time is most important to Matt, whether that’s holidays in Skiathos, glamping trips, or enjoying his other passions of motorbike racing and DIY projects.

From everyone at SHC, we want to say a huge thank you to Matt for everything he does. He’s a massive part of the SHC family, and we look forward to many more years working together.

🌟 MEET THE TEAM – Richard Storey 🌟

This week we are shining the spotlight on our Kendal Depot Manager, Richard Storey.

Richard first joined the SHC family in January 2022 as Depot Manager at our Windermere branch. Although he had no previous experience in Plant & Tool Hire, Richard quickly got to grips with the industry and played a huge role in driving the depot forward. Under his leadership, Windermere went from strength to strength, both operationally and financially.

In January 2024, Richard decided to return to his former trade selling roofing products. However, it wasn’t long before he realised where his true passion lay – helping customers with quality hire equipment and delivering excellent service. Thankfully for us, Richard re-joined the SHC family in October 2024 to take charge of our Kendal depot.

Since returning, Richard has overseen the move into our new Kendal unit and successfully introduced Stihl products to the depot, all while building strong relationships with our Kendal customers and continuing to drive growth.

When he’s not at work, Richard can usually be found on the golf course, walking his beloved dog, or “shining his forehead” (his words, not ours! 😂).

A huge thank you to Richard for all his hard work and dedication. We can’t wait to see where he takes the Kendal depot next now he has the reins! 👏
