We took a little wander round the Police Museum in Ripon today. It’s one of three museums in Ripon and we won a family ticket last year so we can visit again and again!

We’re not exactly sure how old our house is, and don’t know how old Figgy Cottage is, but it was chilling to think the cells would have been in use with the hard beds, bed pans and cranks, and meals delivered through those tiny openings, when this house was built and being lived in by much earlier occupants.

Figs are coming!

Figgy Cottage wasn’t called Figgy Cottage when we got the keys last year. Here’s why we changed the name; the fig tree that came into bloom outside, soon after we moved in! Here
we go again… fig jam, fig tart, salad with figs…
