The Original Hut Company Shepherd’s Hut Eco Stays, Riverside Campsite, Exclusive Hire Campsites, Cafe - Bodiam East Sussex

Wander through the orchards to the National Trust’s Bodiam castle and the local pub; take a ferry ride down the river, hop on a steam train, take part in adventure activities or just relax in front of the camp fire and enjoy the beautiful countryside. Hand built by Nick here on the farm in the tiny village of Bodiam in East Sussex, our Shepherds Huts are based on the idea of an old Shepherd’s hut.

What makes them unique in today’s market is that (in true agricultural fashion) they are built using reclaimed, recycled and locally sourced materials wherever possible. The aim of this is to make them of the lowest possible environmental impact. Bring your own tent, or alternatively we have beautiful tin tabernacles available for hire, that will be all set up and waiting for you on your arrival in one of our picturesque campsites. Our campsites offer wash huts with 2 loos and 2 piping hot showers, private fire pit per pitch and a covered seating area in case of any changes in the Great British weather! Over the past 11 years we have worked with the community to develop some great relationships with different local businesses. We now offer a range of activities on the farm including water sports, wild woodland workshops & yoga, to name a few. June is definitely the best time to visit us (until we’re talking about July, August or September, then I think we’d say the same thing 😅) This year we have a wealth of activities happening in Bodiam to make your trip with us fun-packed!

The Hub, Bodiam (our onsite café) will be serving Pizzas & Cocktails every Friday
Bodiam Castle NT are hosting a how to be a Pirate trail throughout their grounds - this will most definitely keep the kids entertained for a while!
Epic Life will be here onsite, running all of their usual activities…. Paddleboarding, Kayaking, Axe Throwing & more!!

And lastly, the sun will be out (we’re going for the glass half full vibe for this summer) and the wildlife flourishing 🌿

Fancy some ‘back to basics’ glamping (with the essential comforts ofc)? Set in ancient woodland, each site is completely off-grid… so no WiFi or electricity. Whilst at first this may sound daunting, we can guarantee once you’re emersed in the British countryside, looking up at the dark skies around a campfire, you’ll be glad you booked with us.

Currently our June calendar is looking very busy with some last minute availability on the following dates;

🌿19th - 21st (only 3 huts left)

At Quarry Farm, we have two general campsites for individual pitches and groups of up to 5; Poplars (named after the trees onsite) & Gabil Meads (this is it’s original names for when it was used for farming)! Each pitch comes with a fire pit, free of charge, and the option to purchase logs, kindling & eco firelighters from our onsite café, The Hub, Bodiam 🌿

If you’re looking for a step between pitching a tent and our shepherds hut, we work with several local glamping companies that offer gorgeous pre-erected Bell Tents!!! Rent Event - Wedding, Party & Event Hire , The Happy Glamper UK & White Dog Events Ltd.

…and for our larger groups we have two private campsites - we manage all of these bookings directly, so drop us a message if you’d like to discuss! 🏕️

We aren’t for everyone… but we wouldn’t want to be. Our farm is for those looking to switch off and go back to basics (with a few home comforts such as a comfy bed & hot water) all whilst immersing themselves in English countryside.

We have a quiet policy after dark. We don’t offer WiFi or electricity on our sites. And we don’t allow large parties to take over our individual campsites. But this is exactly what makes us, us. We want everyone’s trip to be just as magical as the last, with dark skies showcasing the incredible stars, and off grid sites allowing you to reconnect properly.

We always touch base after your trip to get your feedback and find out what you loved about the farm… And it is still an absolute TREAT when campers reply with pics!!!

Spending every day on the farm we sometimes get lost in work and forget how beautiful the village is. So it’s always a lovely little reminder when we get to see it through your eyes.

We've all been there, frantically blowing on a pile of damp sticks while hungry kids hover waiting to get their marshmallows on. Not the relaxing evening you had in mind!

Nestled in ancient woodland, our Shepherd's Huts were built by Nick using reclaimed and recycled materials 🍃

Each hut sleeps five and comes fully equipped with indoor and outdoor cooking facilities, all bedding, utensils and cutlery, plus an outdoor cool box with a fresh ice pack delivered to your door every morning.

When we set up, our aim was pretty simple... to create truly unforgettable weekends away without leaving a mark on the world around us. We care deeply about our little patch of countryside, and we want every family who stays here to make memories in a space that feels as good for the soul as it is kind to the planet!! 🌳🌍
