Shepherd’s Hut Eco Stays, Riverside Campsite, Exclusive Hire Campsites, Cafe - Bodiam East Sussex

Wander through the orchards to the National Trust’s Bodiam castle and the local pub; take a ferry ride down the river, hop on a steam train, take part in adventure activities or just relax in front of the camp fire and enjoy the beautiful countryside. Hand built by Nick here on the farm in the tiny village of Bodiam in East Sussex, our Shepherds Huts are based on the idea of an old Shepherd’s hut. What makes them unique in today’s market is that (in true agricultural fashion) they are built using reclaimed, recycled and locally sourced materials wherever possible. The aim of this is to make them of the lowest possible environmental impact. Bring your own tent, or alternatively we have beautiful tin tabernacles available for hire, that will be all set up and waiting for you on your arrival in one of our picturesque campsites. Our campsites offer wash huts with 2 loos and 2 piping hot showers, private fire pit per pitch and a covered seating area in case of any changes in the Great British weather! Over the past 11 years we have worked with the community to develop some great relationships with different local businesses. We now offer a range of activities on the farm including water sports, wild woodland workshops & yoga, to name a few. Mark your calendars... Saturday 31st October brings the spectacular Staplecross Bonfire (which is just down the road from us). The streets will be filled with bonfire boys, flaming torches and marching bands... Sussex tradition at its finest.

Bonfire Night isn’t something this county takes lightly, so if you’re staying with us, you’re in for a treat! We’ve still got a few shepherd’s huts free across that weekend, which also happens to be our very last weekend of the 2026 season… 🍂

Staple Cross Bonfire🔥

The Sussex bonfire season is a unique series of festivals hosted, whereby Guy Fawkes Night becomes a full season of events from September through to November. Torchlit parades, exploding effigies and fiery rituals fill the local towns and villages.

If you’re visiting us on the 31st October you’ll be in for a treat 🧨

A quick tour around Holly, one of our hand built huts in the Hop Pickers Wood site.

Nestled in ancient woodland, each hut has been carefully placed to have its own private slice of the Sussex countryside. There are private outdoor seating areas, with a sheltered shack perfect dining alfresco with a group.

Each hut has been named after a plant found in the Sussex countryside 🦋🌳

It’s pretty crazy to think we’re already at the end of June!!! It feels like we wait 80% of the year for the summer, only for it to fly by…

The days are super long and the light does extraordinary things in the evening on the farm (if you’re lucky enough to stay awake for it). If you’ve been thinking about staying with us, the next few months are a very good time to do it 🌾

The sort of things that you notice when you slow down...

How the light filters through the canopy of trees, or the gentle humming of insects along the River Rother. The sounds the farm makes before the rest of the world wakes up.

These really are the simple pleasures of the Sussex countryside, which we are so grateful to enjoy on a daily basis 🌿

This weekend we have the fabulous Rother Fitness Group onsite hosting the Bodiam 7km - a free event where you can run through the Sussex countryside.

Stay Friday night, join RFG’s run on Saturday morning, walk back to the farm for breakfast & then head to Epic Life to spend the day on the river. What a plan 🏃‍♀️🌿
