✨ Yule: The Magic of New Beginnings ✨
As the Winter Solstice approaches, we’re reminded of the magic of Yule — a celebration of renewal, reflection & the promise of brighter days.
🌌 December 21st: The Longest Night
The winter Solstice marks the year’s longest night & shortest day. Since Samhain, nature has begun to rest & become still. Yule honours this quiet pause, encouraging us to let go of the past, reflect on lessons learned, & express gratitude for all the positive moments we’ve experienced.
🌲 The Yule Log: A Ritual of Renewal
Solstice (sun still) ~ It was believed that the sun stood still for 12 days in midwinter, during this time, a sacred log was burned to chase away darkness, bring back the sun & the return of fertile soil. I like to imagine a fire burning away the year’s challenges & making room for new possibilities. 🔥
A beautiful way to celebrate light & hope during the darkest days.
❄️ Finding Beauty in Stillness
Winter whispers for us to slow down. Pull on boots, don a woolly hat & scarf and head out among the frosty landscapes. Listen to the quiet – the creak of bare branches, raindrops on leaves, or a bird call in the distance. Enjoy the magic of standing still, soaking in the stillness.
🌿 Honouring the Season with Simple Rituals
Evergreens like holly & ivy remind us of resilience & life. A sprig of fresh holly behind a picture frame or ivy woven into a table display brighten any room. Holly symbolises goodwill, while ivy encourages growth & self-discovery.
As the wheel of the year turns, Yule reminds us of life’s endless cycles. Life can become pretty hectic at this time of year as we hurtle towards Christmas & all its craziness, we can often get sucked up into a commercial whirl. So take this moment to embrace nature’s stillness, release the weight of the old & make space for the new and the promise of brighter days ahead.💫
