I've decided to rent out my comfy, much loved, sea-front Rothesay flat – within a network of family, friends and neighbours. The flat is on the seafront, 5 minutes’ walk from the ferry terminal in the direction of the Pavilion. It’s on the top floor and has wonderful views across to Toward Point and up Loch Striven and the Kyles of Bute. It’s also a great vantage point from which to see whatever’s
happening on the esplanade and in the bay (the Waverley passes by all through the summer). It has two double bedrooms – one at the front with a double bed and a great sea view, one at the back with a set of bunks and a single bed. The living room is spacious, with a dining table in the bay window; the three piece suite includes a sofa bed. There is a dining kitchen with all the basic equipment you would expect – old fashioned but functional. Dining more often takes place at the table in the bay window of the living room from which you can enjoy the outlook and watch the Rothesay world go by. The bathroom has been recently modernised, with a decent bath and electric shower. It’s a spacious, comfortable, old fashioned flat, right across the road from Children’s Corner as the one wee patch of sand in Rothesay is traditionally known - there are great beaches on the west side of the island. I love it and I spend as much time as I can there – but it isn’t occupied as much as it should be, which is such a shame. The rental price reflects the fact that visitors are expected to leave the flat clean and tidy for whoever is coming in next. The cupboards will not be bare – feel free to borrow a pair of wellies and to use the salt, pepper and tomato ketchup in the kitchen.
