25 minutes from the historical cities of Newcastle upon Tyne and Durham and within the beautiful Derwent valley is a small hamlet called Lintzford. Surrounded by country and nature, Black Bee Cottage is situated within an old corn mill and provides the perfect place to relax, explore, be active or lazy. The cottage is comfortable and homely, big enough for 8 adults but just lovely for 2. It is a home away from home and available to hire all year round.

Surround yourself in autumn splendour, watch the squirrels 🐿️ gather their nuts 🌰, the deer 🦌 pinch our apples 🍎 and bring your dogs for lovely long walks 🥾 through the beautiful and historical Derwent valley.

The countryside and the many dog walks we have which you can start from our front door!

One of Suzie's favourites is her 40 minute door to door walk which takes in a tiny corner of chopwell woods, a few small Hills To get the heart pumping , hairy cows and some history!

Starting from our main gate,
Turn right passed the garden centre and head towards Lintzford mill

Cross over the road at the bus stop and head into Chopwell woods!

Take a phone and follow signs. Chopwell is quite large and we don't want you getting lost!

Hello to all our lovely followers, some of you have been here a while, and some are very new!

We are having a glorious summer here at Steelclose Mill, the apples are on their way - which the deer's are loving, the bees are very busy making honey 🍯 and Dan is busy making his rum 🥃

We wanted to let you know that we are receiving unprecedented booking for summer 2027 - our diary is always open but we don't usually get bookings so far in advance! We're not sure what's happening - is it the weather? Is it that word is getting round how beautiful it is on the Derwent Valley? Not sure what it is - but if you would like to visit in 2027, either for your first time or a return journey please do get in touch as soon as possible to secure your preferred dates.

Dates still available Throughout November and December.
Christmas is booked for both cottage and house for 2026 BUT both available to book for your magical Christmas staycation 2027.

Summer 2027 available.
House has low availability June and September.
