☕💚 A HUGE thank you to our wonderful local businesses! 💚☕

For our Macmillan Coffee Morning this year, we wanted to do something a little different. Alongside raising money for such an important cause, we wanted to give something back to our amazing staff, celebrate the fantastic local businesses in our community, and encourage our team to shop local too. 🫶

We contacted a number of local businesses to ask for support with a staff raffle, and we were completely overwhelmed by the generosity we received. Thanks to your kindness and support, The Lodge Health Partnership raised £200. Our biggest collection yet! 🎉

We really couldn't have done it without you, so we'd like to give a special thank you to:

Mumma Bear’s Bakery – for generously donating six lemon drizzle tray bakes, which we sold across Redbourn, Lodge and Highfield. They were thoroughly enjoyed! You also very kindly donated a Cream Tea for One for our raffle.

The Queen of Herts – for your very generous Buy One Get One Free afternoon tea.

HATCH – for donating a voucher. Our winner was absolutely delighted and can't wait to come and visit you!

Aylett Nurseries– for your kind voucher donation.

Mead Open Farm – for donating two free entry tickets. One very happy staff member's child is already looking forward to a day on the farm!

The Kitchen Depot, Hertfordshire – for the generous w**e hamper and coffee & hot chocolate hamper. The w**e hamper was a particularly popular win with one of our hub GPs! 😉

ROKL - Read Outdoor Kitchens & Living – for the YETI flask donation. This was won by one of our very active GPs, so we're sure it will get plenty of use!

Moo and Boo Sentimental Pieces – for the lovely printed mug and coaster with hot chocolate gift.

A local councillor – for the generous donation of book sets.

The Ironing Co. – for your very generous voucher donation. Our winner was thrilled at the prospect of not having to do her own ironing! 😂

Every donation, big or small, helped make our raffle special and, most importantly, helped us raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. 💚

Thank you for supporting our staff, supporting our local community and helping us make this year's Coffee Morning our best one yet. We are incredibly grateful for each and every one of you. 🥰

🚴‍♀️ A huge achievement for Dr Dowling!

We’re delighted to celebrate an incredible achievement by our very own Dr Dowling, whose BeatBike team recently completed an amazing challenge from Land’s End to John O’Groats.

Over 14 days, the team cycled an incredible 1,648km, tackling a total climb of 19,842m along the way. 🚴‍♀️💪

During the challenge, the team also raised a fantastic £24,627 for six charities. ❤️

A huge well done, Dr Dowling! 👏👏👏

We hope you’ve managed to enjoy some very well-deserved rest after such an incredible challenge! ❤️

There’s something rather special about having a familiar face at your local GP practice and for many of our patients, that face is Julie! 💚

On 19 September, Julie celebrates an incredible 20 years as part of The Lodge Health Partnership team.

Over the years, Julie has welcomed countless patients through our doors, supported our practice team and become a much-loved and familiar member of our local healthcare community.

We’re incredibly grateful for all the hard work, care and commitment Julie has given over the past two decades.

📢 Have your say – EMMA AI

We introduced EMMA AI in March 2026 to help reduce telephone waiting times and the number of calls from patients who could complete an eConsult online.
Since then, we’ve continued to listen to patient feedback and review how EMMA is working.

We’re now asking which option you would prefer:
❤️ KEEP EMMA
Continue using EMMA while we work with the developers to improve the service.
👍 REMOVE EMMA
Remove EMMA and require eConsults to be completed online, keeping our phone lines available for patients who need to speak with the surgery. Please note this would mean longer telephone queues and waiting times.

💙 World Duchenne Awareness Day 💙

“Access changes lives.”

Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is a genetic condition characterised by progressive muscle degeneration and weakness. It is a life-limiting condition for which there is currently no cure, affecting not only the individual but their whole family.

But accessibility is about so much more than whether a building has a ramp or a wheelchair-accessible toilet.

It is about whether we are prepared to understand people’s needs, remove barriers and enable them to live as independently, safely and fully as possible.

This is something particularly close to the heart of our Learning Disability Champion, Lyn.

As a parent of a son with DMD, Lyn has first-hand experience of the difficulties people with disabilities and their families can face when accessing healthcare.

Her personal experience has changed the way she approaches her role and has made her much more aware of the barriers that people and their families can face every day.

When arranging an annual Learning Disability Health Check, something as simple as asking:

💙 Which is the most convenient surgery for you to attend?
💙 Does the appointment time work for you?
💙 Do you need wheelchair access?
💙 Are there other appointments or support arrangements we need to consider?

These questions may take only a moment to ask, but for a family navigating multiple challenges, they can make a world of difference.

An appointment time that works for the service may not necessarily work for the patient, their parent or their support worker.

Good healthcare is about working with people rather than expecting people to fit around the system.

Lyn’s lived experience gives her a unique perspective in her role as our Learning Disability Champion. She understands the importance of looking beyond a diagnosis and seeing the person, their family and what they need to access care successfully.

Sometimes meaningful inclusion comes down to small questions and simple acts of consideration.

If we listen, understand and make reasonable adjustments, we can create services and communities that work for everyone, not just those who find it easiest to fit into the system.

💙 DMD may change lives, but accessibility, understanding and inclusion can help ensure that those lives remain full of opportunity, dignity, connection and hope.

Some of you may already know Dr Ahmed, as he completed his GP training with us over the past few years. We are delighted that, following a successful interview and completion of his GP training, he has now joined our team permanently.

During his training, Dr Ahmed received wonderful feedback from our patients, and we’re thrilled to have him continue his journey with us at LHP.

🌿 A very fond farewell to Dr Ruth Williams 🌿

Today we said goodbye to someone who has been a very special part of The Lodge Health Partnership for an incredible 28 years.

When Dr Williams joined the practice, The Lodge looked very different, Highfield hadn’t yet been built, our partnership with Redbourn was still a long way into the future and GP clinics looked completely different to now.

Dr Williams has been there through all of the changes we have seen. She has watched the practice grow from a much smaller team into the LHP we know today, while continuing to care for generations of patients and work alongside countless members of staff.

But her contribution has been about so much more than the number of years she has worked here.

She has been a GP, a colleague, a mentor, a leader and a friend to many. She has played an important part in shaping the practice and, perhaps most importantly, has always cared about making LHP a good place for its staff to work as well as a place where our patients receive excellent care.

After 28 years, Dr Williams leaves with an incredible amount of knowledge, experience and memories and a very special place in the history of The Lodge Health Partnership.

We are incredibly grateful for everything she has given to our patients, our staff and the practice over the years.

Thank you for all the wonderful years, Ruth. ❤️

We will miss you very much, and we wish you all the happiness in the next chapter of your life. 🌷

💙 A reminder of our Zero Tolerance Policy

We would like to remind all patients and visitors that The Lodge Health Partnership operates a zero tolerance policy towards abuse of our staff.

Unfortunately, over the past few months we have seen an increase in incidents of verbal abuse towards members of our team. Our staff come to work every day to provide the best possible care and support to our patients, and everyone has the right to work in a safe and respectful environment.

We understand that being unwell can be worrying and frustrating, and that your healthcare needs are important to you. We are committed to helping every patient access the care they need as quickly and safely as possible.

To help us ensure you are directed to the most appropriate clinician or service, please provide as much information as possible when completing your eConsult. This enables our clinical team to assess your needs and ensure you receive the right care at the right time.

We ask that all patients and visitors treat our staff with kindness and respect. Verbal abuse, physical abuse, threatening behaviour and damage to our surgeries will not be tolerated. Any unacceptable behaviour may result in removal from the practice list and police involvement.

Thank you for your understanding and for helping us maintain a safe, respectful environment for our staff and patients. 💙
