Oh no! our first negative review since we took over 2 and a half years ago! 😲

Seeing as this is public for all to see we’d like to clear a few things up to ensure all of our future guests that our 10/10 and 5 star reviews on Trip advisor, Eviivo, Hotels.com, Agoda and Google and many more are very true, we promise!

Firstly this is correct, we are not a hotel we are a B&B as advertised! A 4 star B&B infact! A rating that we do not decide ourselves but which is given to us after inspection, so they must think we deserve all 4 of our stars! 🌟

Every morning after breakfast we make sure your room has enough toilet roll and a fresh bin liner etc, your tea and coffee station will be topped up and fresh mugs provided every time! We don’t however ‘tidy up’ your personal items or touch anything that belongs to you. Every time you would like fresh towels just leave them outside your door and we will replace them every time! There are signs explaining this for you in each room 😃

As you can see on Google maps we are situated on a main road so noise does happen! Unfortunately we aren’t in the middle of nowhere! However on the plus side this means we are a short 5 minute walk into St Austell town and an even shorter walk to the bus and rail station! We hate that we can’t control surrounding noise, however the house has double glazing and is set back from the street with our gardens out front meaning you get a lovely view of the gardens instead!

And no, we can’t please every one with our mattresses however what we can promise is fresh high quality locally laundered sheets, a soft duvet and comfy pillows.

This is our family home, a family of which has over 40 years of experience in hospitality combined, we absolutely love doing what we do and enjoy every second of meeting you all, cooking for you and helping out with whatever we can, wether it’s a recommendation or picking you up from Charlestown when you’ve missed the last bus! (This happened yesterday! 😂) And if there’s one thing we love more than anything else, it’s turning a negative, into a positive.

If you want a 5 star chain hotel there are plenty of those around but if you want a real family run B&B then we look forward to your stay with us!

❗❗❗We are open❗❗❗

📍We wanted to express our regret and dismay that many of you and ourselves understood from the Cornwall Live article that we were closing. No, we are not! This ambiguous article was not agreed with us and was pulled from the depths of the internet and presented like this!
Shortly after opening, we found out we were expecting a baby. Well, there are three of us now and managing and developing the business has become significantly more difficult, as it is a family business. Therefore, we are also looking at the possibility of passing it on to someone to continue and develop what we have started.
But this by no means doesn't mean our closure. We continue to develop and will be starting deliveries shortly also website will be up and running within next few weeks where you can see the menu, buy gift cards, book tables and place an order.
If anyone else has had a similar unpleasant experience with the above newspaper, please share

Great news! We always recommend this place to guests for lunch but now you can enjoy dinner there too! We certainly will be! 🍺🍔

The Hicks Bar, St Austell Brewery will be open until 8pm for food and 9:30pm for drinks on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays - starting this week! 🍺

So, whether you're looking for somewhere new for a bite to eat, or simply enjoy a well deserved post-work pint - be sure to pop in and see the Hicks Bar team.

Please note: the Hicks Bar will be closing at the usual time of 5pm on Saturday - Tuesday (closed Sundays).
