This father, daughter duo is Andy and Rebecca. They stayed with us last night and today they are completing the final leg of their, John O'Groats to Lands End bike ride.

Last month a family member passed away after a long battle with Parkinsons. So they decided to ride end to end in his honour and try and raise awareness of the disease along the way.

We hope your final day goes well. You have done amazing to get to the end. And have a nice relax once you get home.

As September is half way done now, the days get shorter and the evenings are darker. They arrived just after 7pm and it was nearly dark already, but we still managed to get a pretty decent picture.

Happy International Dog Day!

Here are just a few of the dogs who have visited us this summer. There have been more but I’ve been terrible at taking photos.
Dogs and puppies of all shapes, sizes and ages have been visiting and loving the weather.
We love dogs here at Goss Moor and enjoy meeting all of your 4 legged friends.
And of course I have included a picture of the wonderful Audrey in there. She is 13 now, can you believe it? She hasn’t visited the campsite much this year compared to previous years because she hasn’t visited decided to retire from campsite chaos maker.

Walking over to the campsite last night, to see these two wandering around, I genuinely thought I was hallucinating. But no there was indeed a giant inflatable hippo 🦛 and giant inflatable Dino 🦖 preparing to camp for the night.

I have been informed there may be more inflatable animals coming to camp soon so watch this space!

The clouds start to clear.

Last night after nearly 3 months of no rain, we finally had about 8 or 9 hours of heavy rain. I won't call it torrential as we have definetly had worse but it was indeed heavy rain.

Headed over to the site this morning and it was so quiet and yet nearly all campers were still onsite. Chill out day for all.

The rain has now stopped and the sun is peeking through the clouds and the day is looking lovely.

We will need alot more rain until we start allowing BBQs and campfires; we will be following the advice of the local fire service and Natural England. We hope you understand.

We were very unprepared for the partial Eclipse last night. No glass anywhere, but we still wanted to enjoy the experiance. So we packed up a picnic ane headed to the beach. We ended up at . It was such a lovely evening. Unfortunatly because we didn't have glasses we couldn't fully experience it, especially given that it didn't really get dark. It was a great atmosphere none the less.
That last photo is what we could see (obviously not directly looking) at what was meant to be 96% covered.

This is why we are currently no open flames on site. This is in Devon but there have been about 4 fires throughout Cornwall on farms and on moorland, over the last month. The SW is also now classified as being in a drought which only makes it even more important that we protect our green spaces and wildlife.

For those of you staying with us this summer here is an idea for an activity if you want a few hours in the shade, but still doing fun activities.
The Cornwall Museum and Art Gallery has some great exhibits on at the moment and have a full list of great additional activities for children and young people over the holidays.
Why not pop along.
Adults cost £10 for a 1 years entry.
Children, under 18 are free.

What's coming up this week? Plenty of different things to keep everyone entertained, and remember kids go free!

Screech Owl Sanctuary are bringing some of their beautiful owls to the museum - a chance to connect with these amazing birds, and sketch them if the mood takes you.

🎭🎭🎭 From 24 July to 6 August, kids activities include getting crafty with mask making inspired by the Myths and Legends exhibition, and let their imaginations fly with a magical word potion.

✨✨✨ Exhibitions include Cornish Myths and Legends - get to know the more mysterious side to Cornwall's heritage - and the beautiful What the Land Remembers - contemporary women artists exploration of Cornwall's landscape.

Open 7 days, 10 - 4pm, free entry for under 18s and £10 for an adult annual pass.

The summer holidays are upon us. A heatwave and potential drought is also upon us. We have not had rain on Goss Moor in at least 3 or 4 weeks. The risk of fire is high.
While we love the sunshine and a bit of heat we are thinking of the practicalities of this situation;
For this reason, from today we will be no camp fires at all on site and no open fire BBQ's.
Gas BBQ's are still allowed.

There are "fire risk" signs across the Goss Moor and we know many other local sites are taking this descision too.

Hello everyone.

Some of you may have noticed we have been a tad quiet on her over the winter. It’s been a busy time recently but also we have had alot of illness in the family.

While the campsite will still be open and we are still excited to welcome you all, I have had to make the hard decision to not open the Beltie Cafe this year. I really haven’t been well for months now and the Beltie is just too much right now.

We really hope that you all understand and we really hope it can be back next year.
