Welcome to Polmanter - a 5 star camping and touring site, set in stunning surroundings within walking distance to St Ives.

We welcome families and couples from April - October. Our 5 star facilities include two tennis courts, a putting green, sports field, play areas, indoor games room, laundry and dog exercise field. From Spring bank Holiday in May through to Mid September we also have the luxury of our own outdoor heated swimming pool, a bar and restaurant with adjoining conservatory and on site convenience shop. We

have three main amenity blocks which include under floor heating, disabled suites, family shower rooms, baby bathrooms and dish washing rooms. A private bus service operates from Polmanter to St Ives for the Easter Holidays and then also from Spring bank Holiday to Mid September.

A little glimpse of yesterday’s eclipse from Polmanter 🌒

Our team donned their eclipse glasses and took some time out to watch as the moon slowly moved across the sun. From The Stable Bar and Reception to the dog field and all the little corners in between, there were some brilliant views across the site.

We’ve heard the beaches around St Ives were packed with people watching too - it was certainly a special moment to be in Cornwall!

Look up on Wednesday evening – Cornwall's about to see something special!

On 12 August, the UK gets a partial solar eclipse, and thanks to being tucked away in the far west, St Ives will see one of the best views anywhere in the country – around 95% of the sun covered by the moon. The next eclipse this dramatic won't be visible here again until 2081.

It runs from around 6pm, with the moon at its deepest coverage around 7:10pm, finishing by 8pm. The sun will be low over the sea to the west, so anywhere with a clear Atlantic view – which, let's face it, is most of St Ives – will do nicely.

One important bit: there’s no safe moment to look directly at it, even at maximum coverage. You’ll need proper certified eclipse glasses.

No glasses? A simple pinhole projector (a hole in a piece of card, projected onto another) or a pair of binoculars projected onto white card will show you the eclipse safely, without ever looking at the sun directly.

Fingers crossed for clear skies – it's a rare one. 🌘

Last Saturday we were proud to sponsor the 46th John Knill Celebrations - one of St Ives' most cherished and historic traditions.

Many of our guests will recognise the iconic Knill Monument standing high above St Ives Bay, but not everyone knows the story behind it. John Knill was a former Mayor of St Ives who built the monument in the late 1700s and left instructions for a special ceremony to be held every five years – a tradition that has continued for more than 200 years.

As a family business that's been part of the St Ives community for over 50 years, we're always proud to support events that celebrate our town's rich heritage and community.

Thank you to St Ives Town Council Cornwall for putting on such a wonderful event, alongside all the other organisers, volunteers and performers 👏

📢 2027 BOOKINGS ARE NOW OPEN! 📢

It's been a busy start to the day here at Polmanter as bookings for the 2027 season officially opened!

We've worked hard to improve our online booking system year after year, and we're delighted that it handled this morning's rush so well, with over 150 bookings made before 10am.

Camping and touring, glamping and self-catering are all now available to book for 2027. The quickest and easiest way to book is online, but we're also available on the phones and by email.

As always, it was lovely to see so many familiar faces in the queue this morning - and a very well-behaved four-legged visitor too! 🐶😊
