Sedgewin, Riviere Towans (sleeps 4 in 2 bedrooms) is across the bay from St Ives, set back into the sand-dunes and above a 3 mile expanse of sandy beach, so close, only 5 minutes walk or so. Watch the fishing boa

ts come and go, the sun set over St Ives from the delightfully furnished living/dining room and its extensive and uninterrupted sea views across the bay. There are 2 bedrooms, one with double bed, the other with adult sized bunk beds. From the hallway is the shower room with WC and wash hand basin. The kitchen area with stylish units, cooker and fridge has door leading into secluded suntrap rear courtyard with picnic table, and bordered by the dunes. There is a designated parking area nearby for chalets in the vicinity. We hope you will join the growing list of regular visitors and enjoy your stay at Sedgewin as much as we all do! And to that end, should there be anything you feel I should be made aware of in order to ensure your comfort & safety whilst you are at Sedgewin, please don't hesitate to inform me. Area Description:
This is a quiet well maintained site in the natural environment of sand dunes and marram grass at Riviere Towans about 1½ miles from Hayle and 7 from St Ives. It is within short walking distance of beach, a local shop and 2 pubs serving meals with more extensive choice at nearby Hayle and St Ives. This is an excellent location for touring, or just relaxing and doing as little as you wish! Some days simply make sandcastles, swim, sunbathe ….have meals on the beach or in the courtyard … in the evenings, stroll to the pub; other days take coastal and moorland walks with breathtaking views… visit nearby St Ives, its narrow cobbled streets and cottages, shops, galleries, restaurants all spilling down to the beaches; explore Lands End, fishing villages and sandy coves; The Lizard, Falmouth and its harbour, the Helford River and its creeks, Eden, all this and more so easily accessible, north and south coast alike. ...in fact……. there is plenty to do or a blissful 'nothing to do' for all the family!

What excitement as January draws to a close – a 36' hu**ed backed whale has adopted St Ives Bay in front of Sedgewin! It swam right up and round a fisherman's boat! And as if thats not enough – a pod of dolphins has returned too. Please do let me know if you see either during your holiday at Sedgewin – With or without a sighting though, a warm welcome definitely awaits. Sophie x (07703 569620 www.sedgewin.co.uk)

Sedgewin's season has now come to an end – with thanks to all of you who visited this summer making it extra special for us! We are now taking bookings for 2023. It is, as many of you will know, in a tranquil location in the dunes, whatever the time of year, with extensive sea views, ever changing with the light. Whether you are simply looking to unwind, relax, be away from the madding crowds, have the beach and the sea all but on your doorstep, look no further! If you are an artist, musician, writer, you will not be lost for inspiration, bird watchers don’t spread the word too far but the Cornish choughs have been sighted at the Godrevy end of the beautiful 3 mile sandy beach and for walkers we have exhilarating coastal footpath paths and moorland walks. Please do get in touch, a warm welcome will await – Sophie x www.sedgewin.co.uk

Medieval Gunwalloe Church sits low in the dunes overlooking the sand of Church Cove, the only church in Cornwall on a beach! I went there recently with my cousin; its quiet, simple, peaceful – we lit candles for the Queen. Later as we sat on a rock looking out across a sparkling sea to the Lizard coastline, it was hard to imagine it living up to its nickname Church of the Storms - but there is little to protect it from any fierce winter gale! An easy drive from Sedgewin for a day out with a difference and with other coves nearby to explore. Sybil x

If you can tear yourself away from Sedgewin, the dunes, the beach and sea, (I'll understand if you cant!), do take the B3306 lane from St Ives through an area of outstanding natural beauty with the coastal paths and Atlantic ocean on one side, Penwith Moor with its dramatic landscape to the other. There, walk either the Tinners Way across the moor or the invigorating coast path. Stop at Rosemergy tea rooms too for a delicious Cornish cream tea after your rewarding day out! Love Sybil x

To my August Sedgewin visitors, do tear yourselves away from the sand and sea, just for a day, take the open top bus for a spectacular ride through outstanding scenery to St Just – there visit the Miners Chapel where you will see a collage I made in an exhibition held by the Penwith Landscape Partnership. I won 3rd prize with it in a competition they organised!! Not that I'm boasting of course – ha ha!! I've never entered a competition before let alone an art one – I'm tickled pink and yes, telling everyone!!
Do look at the website of the Penwith Landscape Partnership – a wonderful organisation – they work tirelessly with a band of volunteers preserving the moorland and pre historic sites of West Penwith and hold events, art competitions, archaeological walks, talks, workshops and more..... Sybil x

Wishing you a joyful Summer Solstice! Before the sun sets on our longest day, here are just a few of the 100's of photos I have of such awesome and colourful seas and skies – taken from Sedgewin – as the sun slips down and sets behind St Ives across the bay. With love, Sybil - and Sedgewin x

A little late posting these lovely photos of the St Ives fireworks display at the close of the Jubilee celebrations. My visitors at Sedgewin had a front seat view - not exactly by Royal command but by sitting at the window clearly seeing all across the bay!!! Would you like a front seat view? Week commencing 9th July has become available! Sybil x

I so love this time of year. We've had bluebells in abundance, the hedgerows, so colourful now, look wonderful and wild flowers I've not seen before have appeared in the dunes amongst the marram grass. I get so torn between watching the stunning seascapes and sunsets we have and going inland instead to walk and drive thru the lanes here! Spoilt for choice for sure!! Sybil (and Sedgewin) x
