Wow, what a fabulous week of weather! ☀️☀️☀️

A quick catch up - the other porch has been taken down, the outside has been partially rendered, and we’ve been up on the scaffolding today priming and painting the end wall…second coat to do tomorrow.

The aerial shot from the tower shows the digger in situ and the garden is gradually be cleared enough to allow for the new porch.

It’s been such a treat to have the sunshine over the last week or two…we had more kites visit and the gardens and hedgerows are covered in clouds of Painted Lady butterflies that have migrated from
Southern Europe. I’ve never seen so many! We also squeezed in a lovely walk from here to Trencrom Hill.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

We had an exhilarating walk along the coast from Sennen around to Lands End today…it was pretty breezy but the spectacular coastline never disappoints regardless of the weather! Crashing waves, choughs, glorious gorse and lungs full of salty air. Topped off with fish and chips on Penzance Promenade on the way home x

Wishing you a Happy Easter weekend! 🐣

Lovely day for a walk and a very welcome break from the demolition hammer!

A visit to Blisland Village for one thing led to a really nice 4 mile circular walk; across downs, along a river, through fields with gorse in full bloom and amazing clear views for miles and miles from Jubilee Rock. Finished off with a cuppa and a toasted teacake at the village community cafe - perfect!

Another day, another tree! We are almost caught up with clearing the damage from the January storms…I don’t think we’ve ever had so many fallen trees to deal with at one time. The upside is we now have a very healthy supply of logs for the farmhouse word burner!

We’re also continuing to remove plaster from the walls in Horseshoe…there probably won’t be any major updates on the cottage for a while as this is literally all we are doing now! There are only so many photos to share of bare walls and us wielding a demolition hammer before it becomes uninteresting! It’s a time consuming job as we can only do so many hours between us with the hammer before our shoulders turn to jelly, so we’re conscious of looking after ourselves as well as getting the job done…but progress is progress and we’re plodding along and clearing one section at a time.

We can hardly believe we’re heading towards the end of March already! When we look back at where we started last Autumn, we’ve achieved a lot…just need to keep going! 🤪

We’ve had some fab weather this past week which has meant we’ve been able to do some outdoor work. We have demolished the dividing wall at the back of the cottage which is a job well done as it appears to be where a lot of wet has been getting through into the old kitchen areas.

We’ve juggled the cottage work with clearing more fallen trees from the January storms as well as keeping on top of all the grass cutting.

Today we headed back inside to get some more plaster off the walls and started on a small section of the floor. It’s laborious but will be worth it in the end, which is our daily mantra at the moment to keep going!! 🤪

All in all a productive week…and it’s been so nice to have the sunshine. Spring is definitely in the air!

We’ve had quite a productive week with a few nice days of weather meaning we could catch up with a few outdoor jobs…cleared another fallen tree from the storms, cut all the lawns, tidied the allotment and harvested a load of leeks for the freezer (we always grow too many!). The keen eyed among you might recognise the carpet we’ve put down as walkways between the vegetable beds!

In the cottage we have been getting the wall and floor tiles off which has revealed what we thought might be a few problem areas. We have subsequently been removing the plaster to get back to the stone walls behind, so the mess hasn’t finished yet!

On a lighter note there are signs of spring everywhere; flowers are blooming, the bees are buzzing and we’ve heard skylarks singing this week too.

Back to it tomorrow, with more plaster removal on the agenda.

Hope you’ve had a good weekend!
