The Idle Rocks has the most enviable location in St Mawes, overlooking the harbour with views across the river Fal to Falmouth. Our 19 bedrooms, most with stunning vistas over the bay, have been thoughtfully designed, each having their own unique identity with fabulous fabrics and decor that leave you in no doubt that you are by the sea. After a long day lazing on the beach, our south facing terrace is the perfect place to relax, have a long drink, and watch the world go by. You may even see your dinner being landed on the harbourside. The Idle Rock’s restaurant, run by our Head Chef, Carla Jones, is a celebration of Cornwall; showcasing a range of fabulous produce that has been sourced locally using only seasonal fresh ingredients. In many cases it will have been swimming right on our doorstep only a few hours earlier and while the food is of the very highest standard, our setting is very relaxed. This time, we’re changing things up with our guest host leading the experience straight from The Reef Knot Restaurant floor.

Having worked in a host of top establishments across the UK, Matt will be showcasing his extensive w**e expertise for one night only. Matthew and Guy are joining forces to curate a beautifully paired food and w**e menu for the evening. Having worked closely together in years previous, expert insights from their journey, great conversation of their time together, and an unforgettable night.

We are thrilled to launch The Autumn Chef Series at The Idle Rocks, exclusive events hosted by Executive Chef Guy Owen and the team across three special weekends this autumn.

With the chefs revealed soon, expect privileged behind-the-scenes access, collaborative multi-course dining, and a celebration of extraordinary culinary talent right on the water’s edge.

Why not stay for the weekend? This includes a two-night waterside stay with a daily Cornish breakfast, starting on Friday with a Ch*****ne reception and Seafood Tasting Menu.

On Saturday, enjoy an interactive tasting session before settling in for the featured Chef Series Dinner with paired w**es.

To make your retreat completely unhurried, we’ve also included relaxed early check-in and late checkout options.
