The Friends of Roberts Park, Saltaire

The Friends of Roberts Park, Saltaire We are a group of volunteers formed in 2004, with the aim of acting as an advocate for the park, to promote and safeguard Roberts Park for future generations.

Why not come to a meeting? We meet once a month very informally and all are welcome! The Friends of Roberts Park have:
• has organised clean-up days & planted bulbs
• runs Easter egg hunts
• has organised a competition to design a flower bed by local school children
• bought and installed a notice board for use by all park users
• before the restoration, helped the Cricket Club to restore and

run the Halfmoon Cafe
• helps to publicise and run Saltaire Bandstand Concerts in conjunction with Saltaire Village Society, Saltaire and Bradford Council
• organised special Christmas Carol concerts in the Halfmoon Cafe
• actively publicised the proposals and designs for the restoration on behalf of the Council and Hillary Taylor Landscapes. HTLA were the main consultants for the successful £3.5 million Heritage Lottery Fund Bid. They have been in involved with many prestigious park restorations in the UK
• conducted park visitor surveys which supported the lottery bid by the Council.
• worked closely with the annual Saltaire festival providing an information point for the festival in the park
• actively forged contacts with all the many varied groups across Saltaire and beyond.
• helped to re-plant flower beds in the restored park
• a full constitution, Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer

Many of the above have only been possible with support from Bradford Council Parks Dept. We now have a dedicated officer for Roberts Park, based in the lodge at the entrance. We will continue to work closely with him and all park users to ensure

Roberts Park just gets, better and better. What you would like to see happen in the park? Is there anything that bothers you about the park? Contact us, we can pass on your thoughts to Bradford Council. Join our mailing list to be kept informed of what’s happening.

☔️Due to today’s weather, we’ve sadly made the decision to cancel today’s Bandstand. Electricity and rain aren’t very good friends!☔️
Fingers crossed for better weather tomorrow.🤞
Hope to see to you there!
