The Friends of Roberts Park, Saltaire

The Friends of Roberts Park, Saltaire We are a group of volunteers formed in 2004, with the aim of acting as an advocate for the park, to promote and safeguard Roberts Park for future generations.

Why not come to a meeting? We meet once a month very informally and all are welcome! The Friends of Roberts Park have:
• has organised clean-up days & planted bulbs
• runs Easter egg hunts
• has organised a competition to design a flower bed by local school children
• bought and installed a notice board for use by all park users
• before the restoration, helped the Cricket Club to restore and

run the Halfmoon Cafe
• helps to publicise and run Saltaire Bandstand Concerts in conjunction with Saltaire Village Society, Saltaire and Bradford Council
• organised special Christmas Carol concerts in the Halfmoon Cafe
• actively publicised the proposals and designs for the restoration on behalf of the Council and Hillary Taylor Landscapes. HTLA were the main consultants for the successful £3.5 million Heritage Lottery Fund Bid. They have been in involved with many prestigious park restorations in the UK
• conducted park visitor surveys which supported the lottery bid by the Council.
• worked closely with the annual Saltaire festival providing an information point for the festival in the park
• actively forged contacts with all the many varied groups across Saltaire and beyond.
• helped to re-plant flower beds in the restored park
• a full constitution, Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer

Many of the above have only been possible with support from Bradford Council Parks Dept. We now have a dedicated officer for Roberts Park, based in the lodge at the entrance. We will continue to work closely with him and all park users to ensure

Roberts Park just gets, better and better. What you would like to see happen in the park? Is there anything that bothers you about the park? Contact us, we can pass on your thoughts to Bradford Council. Join our mailing list to be kept informed of what’s happening.

Who needs The Royal Albert Hall when you have West Yorkshire Brass performing on the bandstand in our gorgeous park? 🎺

What a fabulous afternoon! And a personal favourite of mine was No Matter What.

A huge thank you to everyone who stayed right until the very end and braved the rain with us! 🌧️ You’re absolute troopers.

And, as always, a MASSIVE thank you for all your incredibly generous donations. It really does mean the world to us. Without your support, we simply couldn’t put on these summer bandstands.

And don’t forget, bandstand is on Saturday AND Sunday next weekend! 🎶

🎷 Saturday: Guiseley Jazz — 2–4pm

🎤 Sunday: Karaoke in the Park — 12 noon–5pm

We hope to see lots of you there! 🌳🎶

Thank you, Roger Davies acoustic band! 🎶 What a fabulous afternoon in the park. You were absolutely brilliant, and it was lovely to see so many of you enjoying the music and our gorgeous park. ☀️

Once again, a HUGE thank you for all your generous donations. Without your generosity, we simply wouldn’t be able to organise our summer bandstands, and we really do appreciate every single donation.

Next Sunday we have our friends West Yorkshire Brass performing from 2–4pm. 🎺🎶

We hope to see you all there!
