r side. Sandown Holiday Centre, is an ideal holiday base, situated on the historic site of Yaverland Battery, constructed in 1863 under the direction of the then Prime Minister , Lord Palmerston. Sandown beach is one of the Isle of Wight's finest, and most recognised beaches with miles of soft, golden sands crowned by Sandown's pleasure pier. Popular with tourists and surfers, Sandown is a traditional bucket and spade holiday beach with all you'd expect from an English family beach. Sandown's esplanade has traditional seaside cafés, souvenir and beach shops, whilst the pier has amusements galore, including a crazy golf course. The beach has several outlets to hire deckchairs, sun loungers and windbreaks, and beach huts. Patrolled by lifeguards in the peak season, there are also pedalos, kayaks and banana boats for fun on the water. Attractions include Sandown Tiger Zoo, Dinosaur Isle, tennis courts, putting green, and leisure complex . It is known for its breathtaking scenery with much of the Island being designated as as Area of Outstanding Beauty. The Island first became popular as a holiday destination during Victorian Times and it's unique charm attracts 2.5 million visitors each year. It is quite easy to appreciate why the Island attracts so many with its scenic coastline, award winning golden beaches, charming little villages and temperate climate - in fact the Island can boast more hours of sunshine than most other destinations in Britain. For the more energetic, the Island offers over 500 miles of maintained footpaths which makes it ideal for walkers and cyclists alike. The Island offers a comprehensive range of shops and amenities including many 'High Street' names together with popular cafés, bars and restaurants. All in all the island is a wonderful holiday destination, catering for all ages and with activities for all interests.

A good holiday isn't just about where you go.
It's about the moments in between, too. Coming back after a walk along the beach, putting the kettle on after a day at the beach, deciding what to do tomorrow.

It’s about sitting outside as the evening draws in, cooking something simple after a day exploring, or even doing absolutely nothing at all.

The places you visit might fill your days, but having somewhere comfortable to return to is what gives those days room to breathe.

Because your holiday accommodation isn't just where you sleep. It's part of the holiday itself.

Sometimes, it's just easier to talk to a real person.

Planning a holiday can sometimes come with questions. You might want to check which chalet would suit you best, or ask about a particular date. Find out whether bringing your dog is possible, or simply ask a question that isn't covered on a booking page.

When you book directly with us, there's no need to search through FAQs or wait for a message to be passed from one person to another. You can simply ask us. And because we own and look after Ocean Decks and Seas the Day ourselves, we can give you the answer. Sometimes, that's all you need.

Sometimes, it's the little things that guests remember.

When we prepare the chalets for each new arrival, there are lots of things we do almost without thinking.

Making sure everything is clean and ready - Checking that everything is where it should be - Thinking about what guests might need during their stay - Making sure the information they need is easy to find.

Most of those things aren't particularly exciting. And that's absolutely fine.

But every now and then, a review reminds us that guests do notice. The little details. The care. The things that simply make a holiday feel easy from the moment they arrive. And when a guest takes the time to mention them, it means more than they probably realise.

We’ve lived here for years, and we’re still discovering new places

The Isle of Wight is small enough to feel manageable, but there’s surprisingly much to discover.

One day you might follow the Coastal Path. Another day you might find yourself exploring somewhere you’ve never been before. You might discover a new café, stumble across a village you’ve never visited, find a viewpoint you’ve driven past a dozen times, or take a walk simply because the weather looks too good to stay indoors.

And just when you think you’ve seen quite a lot of the Island...you find somewhere else to add to the list.

Perhaps that’s why so many of our guests come back. There always seems to be another little corner of the Isle of Wight waiting to be discovered.

Holiday food always tastes better doesn’t it?

Maybe it’s because there’s nowhere else you need to be.

A picnic on the beach that turns into an afternoon by the sea, an ice cream that somehow becomes a daily holiday tradition. Fresh bread from the bakery in the high street or delicious Island produce chosen for dinner.

Fish and chips because you’re on holiday and it’s tradition. Or discovering a little café you hadn’t planned to visit and deciding to go back the next day.

Some foods become part of the memories of a holiday, not because they’re particularly fancy - just because you enjoyed them there, together, at that particular moment.

The best holiday accommodation is the kind you don't have to think about.

Everything is clean. Everything works. You know where things are.
The bed is made, and the kitchen has what you need. You can unpack, settle in and simply get on with enjoying your holiday.

After a day exploring the Island, you don't want to come back to a list of little problems to solve. You want to open the door, put your feet up and think:
“This is just what we needed.”

For us, creating a holiday space that is both beautiful and practical is about making things feel easy. Because when everything works as it should, you don't notice it.

And that's rather the point.

It's nice to know exactly who you're booking your holiday with.

When you book directly with us, you aren't booking through a large booking platform or an anonymous listing.

You're booking directly with Gillian & Dave — the people who own and look after Ocean Decks and Seas the Day.

You'll know who you're talking to - You can ask questions before you book - You'll receive all the information you need for your stay - And we'll still be here if you need us once your holiday is booked.

For us, that's what booking direct should feel like: personal, straightforward and reassuring.
Because when you've found somewhere you'd love to stay, you want to feel confident that you've made the right choice.

There are some names we love seeing pop up in our inbox.

Then their messages...

"We'd like to book Ocean Decks again..."

"Can we reserve our usual week?"

"Is Seas the Day available next June?"

Those messages never lose their magic.

Because they tell us that the holiday meant enough for someone to want to come back.

As a small family business, that's one of the greatest compliments we could receive.
