A little traditional seaside fun, whatever the weather!

Sandown Pier is one of those familiar seaside favourites that's well worth a visit when you're exploring the Isle of Wight.

And it's not just us who think so! The Guardian recently included Sandown Pier among Britain's ten best piers, picking it as the place to head when the weather turns.

From traditional seaside amusements to a change of plan on a rainy day, it's another little piece of Sandown that's worth knowing about when you're staying on this part of the Island.

Why not take a scenic journey by steam train when you’re on the Island?

Just sit back in comfortable old-fashioned carriages, and watch the Island's countryside go by.

The Isle of Wight Steam Railway is one of those days out that feels like an experience in itself, rather than simply a way of getting somewhere. There’s also a great cafe and children’s play area which you can visit without any entrance fee, and a museum.

And it's a lovely reminder that there's much more to the Island than its beaches and coastline.

One of the best things about being on holiday? Not having to eat at the usual times. ☕️🥐

Breakfast when you wake up. Lunch after a morning on the beach. Something easy when you get back from a day out.

No rushing because you’ve got a table booked. No watching the clock. Just eating when you’re hungry and doing things at your own pace.

Because sometimes, being on holiday means forgetting the usual routine for a while. 💙

A chalet can look beautiful in a photograph. What really matters is how it feels when you're actually staying there.

Can everyone sit comfortably? Is there somewhere to put the things you use every day? Can you make a meal without feeling you're fighting with the kitchen? Is there enough room to relax, even when you're not out enjoying the Island?

We've tried to make our chalets practical as well as pretty, with the sort of details that make a difference once you're actually living in the space, because a holiday chalet shouldn't just look good when you arrive. It should work well throughout your stay.
