The Guilford Trophy Final report 🏆

The Guilford Final was held on Saturday 26th September 2026 at Bearsted Golf Club between Prince's GC and Walmer & Kingsdown GC on a day that was perfect for quality golf, sunshine all day and very little wind. Unfortunately, the course itself had suffered from the summer’s drought, as many of the county's golf clubs have, but the green staff had worked extremely hard to produce a course worthy of this final.

Prince's sent what can only be described as their strongest side in several years, having last won the competition in 2014.

The morning foursomes went according to plan for Mark Bennett, Prince's captain, with a commanding whitewash 4-0, leaving Walmer & Kingsdown no alternative but to come out strong in the afternoon singles. Unfortunately for Walmer, the strength in depth of the Prince's team proved too much, and the afternoon singles were shared 4 all leaving the overall score Prince's 8, Walmer & Kingsdown 4.

It must be said that it was a great achievement for Walmer and Luke Browns's team to reach this year’s final, managing wins in 2 of the previous rounds away to Littlestone and also Chestfield.

Prince's are now the representatives of the Guilford Trophy, playing against the winners of The Perman Shield, Sundridge Park, in the Mid Kent Cup on the 4th April 2027 at Faversham Golf Club.

Today, on National Sporting Heritage Day, we're looking back at the history of Prince's.

From Gene Sarazen teeing off here and lifting The Open Championship trophy in 1932, to the clubhouse and course as you see them today, these images tell just a small part of Prince's story.

Much has changed over the decades, but the connection to the game remains. The same coastline, championship links golf and a history that continues to shape Prince's today.
