🌌✨ Magical nights at Daltamie Lodge

Did you know that this part of south-west Scotland is famous for its dark skies?

The Galloway Forest Park International Dark Sky Park is a special place for stargazing, where the darkness of the night sky is protected.

And right from our garden at Daltamie, we've been lucky enough to see the Milky Way stretching across the sky… and even shooting stars! 🌠❤️

There's something truly magical about standing outside on a clear night, surrounded by the quiet of the countryside, looking up at a sky full of stars.

It's moments like these that make this corner of Scotland so special. ✨🌿

The premier stargazing celebration, the region-wide South of Scotland Dark Sky Festival, is actively happening right now from 9 to 18 October 2026. l will update you with dates for 2027.

✨ A little glimpse of Daltamie Lodge! 🏡

The kitchen is really starting to come together, and I'm loving how it's looking! 🤍🌿 There's still a few finishing touches to do, but it's wonderful to see everything taking shape.

White cabinetry, olive green panelling, natural wood and those little details that make a house feel special. We're getting closer to bringing this lovely place to life!

There's still work to do, but I can't wait to share the finished result with you. 🛠️✨

🍂 When we say there's a beautiful riverside walk right outside the door, we really mean it! 🌿🐟

The Euchan Glen walk starts right beside Euchan Bridge Cottage and follows the Euchan Water towards the waterfalls. It's a lovely spot to enjoy the Scottish countryside, listen to the river and, if you're lucky, watch salmon jumping upstream!

There are two waterfalls along the way, and at the second one you can sit on one of the benches and watch for salmon. ❤️

And it's not just about nature! Sanquhar village, with its shops, cafés, pubs and fascinating local history, is just a short walk away.

🐟 Have you ever watched salmon jumping a waterfall? 🍂

Just a short walk from Euchan Bridge Cottage, there are two beautiful waterfalls on the Euchan Water. At the second waterfall, there are even two little benches where you can sit and watch the salmon making their way upstream. ❤️

And yes… they really do jump! 🐟💦

🍂 We still have several dates available in October, so if you fancy a cosy autumn escape with riverside walks, wildlife and the sound of the river right on your doorstep, this could be the perfect time to visit.

📅 **Have you noticed our little calendar?**

This wooden calendar has been part of the decoration at Euchan Bridge Cottage from the very beginning. ❤️

We brought it all the way from **Valencia, Spain**, and it’s one of those little details we love having in the cottage.

The best part? Our guests can change the blocks to show the **day and month**, so it’s different every time someone stays.

🌿 Planning ahead for 2027? 🌿

We’ve already had our first bookings for 2027, with three stays booked for May and June! 🥰

If you already know when you’d like to visit Euchan Bridge Cottage next year, it might be worth booking early to make sure you get the dates you want.

We’re so lucky to have so many lovely returning guests and, with bookings already coming in for next year, the calendar is starting to fill up earlier than usual. ❤️

And there’s something else exciting coming…

🏡 Daltamie Lodge is currently being renovated, and we’re hoping to have it ready for guests from early 2027.

So next year you may have two beautiful cottages in Dumfries & Galloway to choose from! 🌿

🏡 A little update from our new adventure…

Daltamie Lodge is slowly starting to reveal what we imagined when we first saw it. ❤️

The fireplace is now taking shape, parts of the bathroom and kitchen are coming together, and little by little, this old cottage is beginning to feel like a home again.

There’s still plenty to do, but it’s so exciting to see the transformation happening!

✨ Here are a few little glimpses of what we’ve been working on…

We’re hoping to have Daltamie Lodge ready for its first guests around Easter 2027. 🐣🌿

What a fantastic achievement! Congratulations to Spain on becoming World Champions! 🏆⚽

As a Spanish family living in Scotland, we couldn't be prouder to see La Roja lift the trophy after such an incredible tournament.
