Welcome to Goosepen Cottage, a beautiful and spacious barn conversion situated at Hallflat Farm, in the quiet Western Lake District. Our cosy cottage is located in Santon Bridge, Wasdale, and has stunning views up the Wasdale valley. The cottage sleeps 4 people in two bedrooms and has a full self-catering kitchen,

living/dining room with log burner, bathroom and separate toilet. The 'upside down' accommodation has the living area upstairs, to take full advantage of the fantastic scenery. Two outdoor seating areas, one south facing and one west facing, make the most of the sun and provide alfresco dining with a view. The cottage is surrounded by fields, woods and impressive hills and mountains and yet is only 200m from a pub serving good beer and quality food.

We’re so lucky here in the western Lakes. It’s much quieter over here, and as well as the stunning mountain scenery, we’ve got the glorious beaches of the Cumbrian coast. West is best for sunsets too 🥰

WASDALE OVERNIGHT ROAD CLOSURE
A reminder to all those visiting Wasdale, going to Wasdale Head, setting off walking early in the morning or later in the evening (namely 3 Peaks walkers), the road will be closed to Wasdale Head from 10pm until 6am daily until June 5th for highway repair and maintenance work. Access for pedestrians and emergency services will be kept at all times.

Any closure of this road is an inconvenience for visitors, residents and businesses alike and especially during a half term and at this time of the year!

The closure does not affect the Wasdale Explorer bus as this operates outside of the closure times.

As Mental Health Awareness Week comes to a close, we just wanted to say how grateful we are for this place, these views… and of course, the sheep 🐑

There’s a lot to be said for slowing down a bit, getting outdoors, and spending time with animals.

We see it all the time here - people arriving a little stressed, busy or overwhelmed, then leaving smiling, relaxed and a little lighter than when they arrived.

Never underestimate the power of fresh air, nature, good company… and a Herdwick sheep or two 💚
