September — when summer slows down.

September can feel a bit like summer, without all the summer rush.

The sea has had all summer to warm up, the days are still long, and there's plenty happening around the coast — from sea swimming and watersports to the arrival of grey seal pups and autumn wildlife.

The landscape is still largely green and summery too. It's that lovely in-between point where summer hasn't quite disappeared, but things have started to slow down.

September in Pembrokeshire: all the good bits of summer, with a little less hustle and bustle. 💚

A rare Oystercatcher opportunity...
Oystercatcher doesn't become available very often — and we've now had a small number of dates open up that will be the final opportunities to stay here this year.

So, if you've previously tried to book Oystercatcher but couldn't find dates that worked, this might be one to keep an eye on. 👀

Tucked away in its own private corner of Swallow Tree, Oystercatcher sleeps up to six guests across three bedrooms and three bathrooms, with private gardens and uninterrupted sea views.

And there's a little bit of Swallow Tree history in there too. Before its transformation into the luxury coastal retreat it is today, Oystercatcher was once the park restaurant — a place where generations of guests gathered to celebrate and make memories.

Final 2026 dates:
📅 Fri 18 Sept – Mon 21 Sept · 3 nights
📅 Fri 25 Sept – Fri 2 Oct · 7 nights

If you've been waiting for Oystercatcher, this is your chance.

🍂 For those of you who can't wait to trade in your flip-flops for your walking shoes...

There's something really special about Pembrokeshire in the autumn. The summer crowds begin to ease, the woodland starts to turn golden, the air gets that unmistakable crispness and the coastline takes on a whole new character.

Long coastal walks, muddy paws, cosy evenings and that feeling of coming back after a day outside with rosy cheeks and a warm drink in your hands.

We're definitely not ready to say goodbye to summer just yet... but for those of you already looking ahead to autumn, we get it. 🧡

🐾 Happy National Dog Day! 🐾

Let's celebrate the four-legged members of the family who make holidays even more special.

Whether they're racing along the beach, darting through the woodland or simply relaxing outside the lodge...

We want to see them! 🐕

If you've brought your dog to Swallow Tree, share a photo of them enjoying their holiday in the comments. 📷

Saundersfoot to Wiseman's Bridge — From coal wagons to coastal walkers.

It might look like a quiet little corner of the Pembrokeshire coast today, but this stretch has a surprisingly industrial past.

The tunnels linking Wiseman's Bridge, Coppet Hall and Saundersfoot were once part of a railway carrying coal from the local mines towards Saundersfoot Harbour.
Today, you can walk through those same tunnels as part of the Wales Coast Path — with very little left to suggest the coal wagons that once passed through here. And there's even more history tucked into the cliffs and woodland around Wiseman's Bridge... including old mine workings and the remains of the route that once continued inland towards Stepaside.

And, of course, no walk through history is complete without a well-earned drink at the end of it. 🍻

How fast has the summer flown?
It feels like only yesterday we were looking ahead to those long summer days, and somehow we're already heading towards the end of August!
If you've still got some summer left to enjoy, we hope you make the most of it. And if your summer holiday has already been and gone... there's always next time. 😉
How has your summer been so far?

🍂 Could this Summer be setting us up for a spectacular Autumn?

We've had plenty of sunshine and warm weather this summer - and apparently, that could be good news for autumn colour.

Trees use sunlight to produce sugars in their leaves, and when the days shorten and temperatures begin to cool, those sugars can help bring out the reds, oranges and golden hues we love to see in our woodlands.

Some experts are predicting a particularly vibrant autumn this year, with the display potentially beginning from mid-September and continuing well into November.

So while the leaves are still very much green, we're really looking forward to seeing what nature has in store.
