Dunwich Heath Wildfire Update:
The incident remains a Major Incident. Overnight operations proceeded as planned and firefighters continue to make good progress tackling hotspots across the site.

Residents and holidaymakers will be able to access the caravan park today to collect personal belongings. Suffolk Police will manage access and es**rt people safely into and out of the area.

Following discussions with organisers and partner agencies, the Dunwich Classic Car Mini Rally will be allowed to proceed as planned tomorrow.

The Information Centre at Westleton Village Hall is open from 9am to 4pm throughout the weekend, providing information, advice and support to those affected by the incident.

⚠️We ask members of the public to continue avoiding the incident area and to respect all road closures and access restrictions.

We're currently assisting firefighters at the scene of a fire between Dunwich and Minsmere.

Please avoid the area at this time to enable access for emergency services.

Earlier this month, on a particularly warm day, we spotted the first adder of the season.

Adders hibernate from October onwards and usually emerge in March, once the weather has warmed up. It's actually one of the easiest times to spot one, as they tend to bask on logs or under rocks.
