Important Update

We understand some customers impatience with information and since last Thursday when all our lodge owners were contacted by telephone we have been at risk of further flare up fires on the Dunwich Heath so information was changing on a daily basis. This has been an extremely difficult time for our business and in the back ground much has been happening... including yesterday emptying over 110 freezers that after almost 2 weeks of no power was a really disgusting job - this is almost finished and should be done by today! We have finally got power so now have access to our full system including internet which means our phone system is now accessible as well rather than parts of our booking systems - so yet again thank you for your patience we have much catching up to do however firstly we need to get operational as we have just got news after this mornings meeting that we can open from 10am Friday of this week.

I do apologise for this but I needed to turn off comments so I could get the chance of getting an update and make this posting. The problem with human nature is one comment fuels more, I have requested reception to contact some of you.

All those with bookings can come from Friday and lodge owners may return as well. Emails will go out from reception as well but I don't use that part of the system as facebook is really just a marketing tool not 'The Daily Newspaper'.

The road will be closed just past Cliff House entrance and this will be controlled by The Nation Trust. The Fire Service have told us the beach access must remain closed for the time as they wish to test the resilience of the cliff further along where the fire had taken hold under the National Trust Land, this is a precaution of which we have no control. The beach can be accessed from the Dunwich car park in the Village as normal.

With best wishes to all. Steve

Small update.... We have a meeting with the local Council tomorrow morning at around 10am to try and work out how we can timetable the collections of goods from the Park. There are so many individual questions regarding this I will not have a chance to reply promptly as I have been today. Many thanks for your patience and the news I have there are 'hotspots' on the heath however the feeling is one of control so the position appears more positive than yesterday. With best wishes CH team.

Just a news update.…

We have a member of our team on site now checking the park. We are pleased to say the superb work done by the Fire Service has saved the park there is no sign of damage by fire. Please await further instructions they may allow collections of items left but a few at the time so please be patient and await instructions.

The Park has no power still it remains closed until we have permission to open.

Good morning all,

Heathland Fires are never an easy thing to deal with and can very unpredictable….

Our thanks to our team last night who were fabulous. We were in close contact with the Chief Fireman all evening and followed his instruction, later in the evening he elevated his advice from a pre-evacuation warning to that of ‘on the balance of safety everyone should vacate the area.’ This advice was proved absolutely correct as the wind did change direction to the East pushing the fire towards us. The latest news is that we are thus far untouched by the fire however this is still a major incidence so not over yet. Louise our Park Manager will be giving updates and will be coordinating those whose booking may be affected from our Park in Kessingland, The Hollies Leisure Resort.

A special thanks goes to the Suffolk Fire Service for tackling the fire so professionally, we really appreciate their help last night and our thanks to all our customers who had to leave and for being so understanding.

With best wishes
Steve

Dunwich Heath fire update.

Following the update throughout the night, crews from Suffolk Fire and Rescue are still tackling a large wildfire at Dunwich Heath.

Throughout the night crews have been focused on protecting properties including Coastguard Cottages, Mount Pleasant Farm and Cliff House Holiday Park. All individuals have been evacuated successfully.

We are advising all those who have been displaced as a result of the fire to attend Westleton Village Hall at 08:00am for further updates.
