A charming self catering cottage for rent on a small island in the Outer Hebrides. One of last remaining wildernesses in the UK.

To find out more click: www.stromecottage.co.uk Strome Cottage is built of stone, partly roughcast with a slate roof. It can comfortably accommodate 4 to 5 people, 6 at a pinch. Children and animals are welcome. The cottage is reached by a short footpath which is uneven in places.

🌿✨ A few cosy improvements at Strome Cottage ✨🌿

We’ve been making a few little updates at Strome Cottage this spring — including brand new vinyl flooring in the kitchen, bathroom, and first-floor landing, freshening up the space while keeping its simple Hebridean charm 🌊

And for the very first time… electric heaters in the bedrooms! 🔥
Perfect for taking the chill off those cooler island mornings and making things extra cosy after a day exploring Harris and Scalpay.

There’s also still a last-minute stay available!

🌸 With spring returning to the Isle of Scalpay, we are delighted to begin a new season at Strome Cottage and feel very lucky to be continuing the long tradition of sharing this special place, its unique character and peaceful setting ✨

Strome Cottage is for those looking for a true Hebridean experience. It is a traditional, rustic cottage where life moves at a slower pace. There are no modern luxuries — just the simple comforts of an old island home and the space to reconnect with nature 🌿

From the cottage you can enjoy wide views over the sea and quiet inlets, the ever-changing Hebridean light, and the calm of surrounding moorland that remains beautifully untouched. Wildlife, sea air and weather shape the rhythm of the day here 🌊

A stay at Strome Cottage is about slow travel: watching the tide move across the bay, walking the moorland paths, reading by the fire, and taking time to appreciate the landscape and the elements.

The cottage itself is modest but well equipped for a comfortable, simple stay, and its atmosphere and character are what make it such a special place for us — and for the many guests who return year after year.
