At certain times in your life, many of us will have dreamed of leaving the rat race to go and run a B & B, donning the chef blacks, rustling up perfectly poached eggs for smiling guests, and the only commute being to the next room, well we only went and did it.
With a head full of dreams and “what ifs” and a heart full of desire we decided to take the plunge and move to the Seaside. We had so many ideas, plans and so many dreams and if we are totally honest, there were times when we wondered whether our friends and family would fully understand what the hell we were doing.
But as everybody knows me and Debs have always been energetic and slightly quirky, the creative souls with a thousand ideas before breakfast, dreamers who always felt it was important to follow your dreams and trust in the journey.
Running a B&B can be hard work but it has provided us with our dream lifestyle. A typical day starts at 6am, prepping and making all the array of breakfasts, then it's bed-making, cleaning, gardening, maintenance and preparing fresh Bread, Home-Made Jams & Curds and Debbie’s Home-Baking. There are days when it’s full on and the phone is ringing off the hook, but the great thing is that we are making all our own decisions about running the place; we have our independence.
It can be as relentless as running a marathon, but we are both dedicated to it, we enjoy what we do and get great satisfaction when people come back regularly. It's not necessarily been a slower pace of life for us, but it’s rewarding making guests feel comfortable.
Looking back now, we both feel incredibly proud of what we have achieved, and 7 years on we are still going strong and never looked back.
