As we hit summer season, we thought we'd do a week-long series of posts answering some of our FAQs, giving you the info you need to make that booking you might just be holding off from!

Lots of info can be found on our website www.kenways.co.uk and if there's anything specific you want to ask, please comment or get in touch on 01723365757 or [email protected]

Final day, final question - What's included in the room?

Hopefully, everything you need for a comfortable stay!

Every room has a kettle with mugs and glasses provided. Tea, coffee, various decaf options, hot chocolate, milk, sugar/sweetener and a free biccies are all included.

In each room, one of the drawers will contain a hair dryer and some ear plugs - the seagulls aren't particularly bad on our street, but we are by the coast so they sometimes provide a dawn chorus! We also have eye masks available on request.

Bed linen is of course provided, as are bath and hand towels and a make-up remover/flannel. Hand wash is by each sink and every shower has body wash/shampoo and conditioner.

Each room has a small TV with freeview UK channels.

Need an iron and ironing board? Just ask!

Since COVID, we don't service every room daily but invite you to let us know if there is anything you need topping up. Fresh towels can be requested and, for stays of three nights or more, we will happily change your bedding if preferred.

We provide check lists in all the rooms so you can make a quick, easy note of what you need, pass it to us at breakfast and it will be left outside your door for collection later that morning. All guests have our mobile number so can call or text if they need anything. We also have an internal door bell which contacts us in our living area.

Check out our reviews and you'll see we strive to be as helpful as we can! We hope everyone had a comfortable, relaxing stay at Kenways.

Topic 4 - Is breakfast included? Can we accommodate dietary requirements?

Yes and yes!

Unlike many B&Bs, especially those using third party agents like B00king.com, we absolutely include a full breakfast offering in our room price. If you look at the image above which collates a selection of the local cafes offering breakfast, you can see that saves you about Β£10 per person per morning feed!

We cook every breakfast fresh to order and we're more than happy for you to pick and choose what you fancy from our menu, just have a sandwich or pick our changing daily special. Unlimited teas and filter coffee (including decaf), plus fruit juice is included and there are cereals, yogurts and a fruit bowl for you to help yourself, too.

Let us know about any allergies or dietary requirements before your stay - no problem. Tim makes his own vegetarian sausages, with a vegan version. His homemade hash browns can also be made gluten free and/or vegan. We always have oat milk as a dairy alternative, plus plant based butter or spread - if you prefer something different, let us know.

The only GF alternative we haven't yet found is the black pudding - we just can't find one we love. Everything else can be substituted and we have strict procedures in the kitchen to prepare allergen free food safely.

Our local butchers, M Nockles (who have been based in Scarborough market hall for over 100 years!) provide our meat and free-range eggs.

We serve breakfast between 8am and 9:15am and make it our mission to start your day off in the best possible way!

Day 3 - What kind of rooms do we have and who can stay in them? πŸ›ŒπŸšΏπŸ‘ΆπŸ•

We have 7 guest bedrooms, all en suite. Our family room has a bath with shower over, all the rest are shower rooms. All rooms, except one of our doubles, have the sink in the bedroom. Plenty of hot water and good pressure throughout!

Our first floor rooms consist of the family (with a double bed and bunk beds) and two double rooms.

The second floor has two further doubles, a twin (which can now be converted into a super king bed) and one single room.

Children under 18 aren't allowed to have a room on their own without an adult. Our family room can accommodate 2, 3 or 4 people so is perfect for 2 adults and 2 children.

Our twin and single rooms have an interconnecting door meaning this can work well for a family of 3 or 3 friends sharing.

We can't fit a cot in the family room but there is space in one of our double rooms and in the twin/super king room for smaller travellers.

We are dog friendly BUT always ring and speak to us if booking a four-legged as two of our double rooms are kept entirely pet free so we need to make sure we can accommodate you and your pooch depending on availability. We don't allow dogs into the dining room for breakfast. We do ask that they are not left in the rooms alone for periods of time longer than breakfast service.

We can't accept stag or hen dos for insurance reasons but we're very happy for a large family group/mixed friends to hire a group of rooms or the whole place, subject to availability. Please note, you are welcome to use the dining room to meet up, eat takeaways etc but we don't have a lounge and are not licensed, so don't have a bar.

Next up for day 2 - Is parking included? How do we travel to Kenways with and without a car? πŸš—πŸš‚πŸš–

Yes, a parking permit is included in your room price! Parking around North Bay is all controlled by permits between 9am and 5pm but we will always give you a scratch card for the duration of your stay to allow you to leave the car all day or to come and go as you wish.

We don't have a car park, all parking is on street, but you can usually find a spot just outside. At busier times, if our road is full, we can usually direct you to a space on an adjacent road where our permits also work - after we've brought your bags in for you, of course!

If you're traveling to Scarborough by train, the station is approximately 20 minutes walk away - down hill on the way to us! Taxis are available at the station or we can send you a number to use - expect to pay about Β£8.

The Coastliner bus from Leeds and York and the X94 from Whitby stop at the bottom of our road, just by Peasholm Park.

So, first up (and appropriate for the hottest Bank Holiday Monday we can remember!) - How close are we to the beach? πŸ–οΈπŸŒŠβ˜€οΈ

North Bay beach is approximately a 5 minute walk if you take the winding cliffside path (steep but paved). Alternatively, you can walk the much flatter route alongside Peasholm Park which takes perhaps 10 minutes.

South Bay is roughly a 20 minute walk through town or 30 minutes around the flat castle headland, following the sea. Best chances of spotting seals and dolphins are on this walk...

In summer, the open top bus services run between North and South Bay every 10-15 minutes.

Cayton Bay and the beaches at Filey and Whitby are a short drive away and acceptable by public transport.
