2026 Season Update
Firstly, the fantastic news!
The ACU have approved Next Generation SuperSport bikes to race at Oliver's Mount. This is brilliant news as it brings us bang up to date with developments in the wider racing world and allows TT competitors to compete at Oliver's Mount on the same SuperSport machinery they race at the TT.
Greenlight TV have also confirmed they want to keep Oliver's Mount in the King of The Roads championship, which is broadcast around the world, showcasing Oliver's Mount and Scarborough to a global audience!
Update on 2026 Season Tickets
We've received many calls and emails asking when 2026 tickets will go on sale, so we wanted to give you an honest update on where things stand.
We're currently working with North Yorkshire Council to find a sustainable access solution for our events. Until we have a confirmed, workable arrangement in place, we're unable to put tickets on sale as the last thing we want to do is cancel an event once we have begun selling tickets for it.
The Access Challenge
The ultimate long-term solution is to repair Jackson's Lane, which has been closed and making our events very challenging to run for 7 years now. As an adopted highway, Jackson's Lane remains the Council's responsibility with a statutory obligation to repair and maintain, however this will realistically take some years yet to achieve. In the meantime, we need a practical solution that will serve Oliver's Mount well for the years ahead.
All parties agree that a 2-way stone track from Musham Bank roundabout is the right medium-term answer. This would provide reliable access without the need for ongoing traffic management and eliminate inconvenience for local residents. Unfortunately, the Council believe this may require planning permission, and they are busy working on that issue right now.
For 2025, North Yorkshire Council installed a temporary plastic track solution for our major event weekends, taking on the larger share of costs whilst our sponsor HMH Civils undertook significant civil works to enable the route. While this arrangement worked operationally, it was disruptive to local residents and very expensive to install. North Yorkshire Council’s current proposal is for a £10 per vehicle access fee to help cover these track costs going forward. Unfortunately, we believe this charge would deter enough spectators to make our events financially unsustainable and could spell the end for racing at Oliver's Mount.
Our Commitment & The Path Forward
Since 2019, we have invested huge amounts of time, effort, and personal finances to restart and keep Oliver's Mount running with the aim of securing its future. We're committed to continuing that work. Your passion for Oliver's Mount and real road racing, as well as this amazing legacy is what drives us to keep finding solutions.
Oliver's Mount is a jewel in the crown for real road racing and for Scarborough. It's an asset owned by North Yorkshire Council, and we're hopeful they'll support it through this final challenge so it can continue to thrive for generations to come.
We recognise the Council are actively working on the planning requirements for the stone track solution, and we appreciate their engagement on this issue. What we need to move forward is a two-part approach: first, supporting the 2026 season by covering the access track costs without passing charges on to spectators; and second, expediting the planning process so we can jointly install the permanent two-way stone track that will serve us reliably for years to come.
What's Next?
We'll keep you updated as developments happen. We're hopeful we can start the 2026 Real Road Racing season with The Bob Smith Spring Cup on 11/12 April as intended, but we need a sustainable access solution agreed in the very near future before we can commit to running our 2026 major road race weekends.
The hill climbs and GB SuperMoto events are unaffected by this as they do not require the temporary access road.
Thank you for your continued support and patience as we work through this challenge. Oliver's Mount has a bright future ahead – we just need to get this final piece in place.
We wish all of our supporters, competitors, marshals, officials and staff a lovely festive period and hopefully the new year will bring positive news for 2026!
