🍂 A little touch of autumn at Saretta…

There’s something lovely about the first few signs of the seasons changing, so we’ve been adding a few gentle autumn touches around Saretta this past week.

One of the things we love most about Norfolk is being present in the seasons — noticing those little changes as the year unfolds on the coast, and letting Saretta change gently along with them.

Who else is quietly very pleased that cosy season is on its way? 🍁

📍 SATURDAY SPOTLIGHT – North Walsham

This week's Saturday Spotlight takes us to North Walsham, one of those handy Norfolk towns that's well worth knowing about when you're staying at Saretta.

With its historic town centre, independent shops, cafés and places to stop for a bite to eat, it's a lovely spot for a wander – and somewhere you can easily combine a little exploring with picking up anything you might need during your stay.

Alongside the lovely independents, you'll also find the convenience of larger supermarkets here, making North Walsham a useful place to stop and stock up on a few holiday essentials before heading on to Saretta. Then, with the food shopping taken care of, you can arrive, unpack and get on with the much more important business of starting your Norfolk holiday! 🏡🌊🐾

It's also a great option for one of those Norfolk days when you fancy swapping sandy paws and coastal paths for a potter around the shops and a coffee. 🐾☕

We took these photos on a recent early morning wander around the town and thought we'd share a little glimpse with you.

Sometimes it's the smaller towns and everyday corners of Norfolk that are just as enjoyable – and useful – to discover as the better-known destinations. 💙

Norfolk is calling… 🌾💙

We're heading to Saretta today for a little day of making, improving and exploring.

There are a few new touches waiting to be added, some favourite Norfolk corners to revisit and hopefully a few new ones to discover along the way.

And, of course, there should be time for a good walk or two. 🐾

But before all of that, here's your Friday Norfolk Pause.

A few seconds of rolling Norfolk waves at Sea Palling. No rush. No agenda. Just the sea. 🌊

Why we rather love September at Saretta… 🐾🌾

The summer rush begins to quieten, but there is still so much to enjoy on the Norfolk coast.

🐾 Long walks with the dogs and miles of coast to explore
🌊 Quieter days on beautiful Sea Palling beach
🌾 Norfolk countryside beginning its slow change towards autumn
☕ Slower mornings and somewhere cosy to come home to afterwards
🏡 And a properly dog-friendly base just a short walk from the beach

Saretta was always intended to be somewhere that dogs aren't simply allowed — they're very much part of the holiday, because we know they're very much part of the family. 🐾💙

September is always a popular month at Saretta and tends to find its way into the diary rather quickly, so if a quieter, dog-friendly Norfolk escape sounds like your kind of thing, it's worth planning ahead. Next years diary is filling up fast!🌾

And just for fun — if your dog could choose their perfect holiday, what would be top of their list: beach, walks, garden… or simply having their humans all to themselves? 😂🐾

🐾 WEDNESDAY WALKIES – Sheringham to Cromer

Fancy a walk where the journey is every bit as good as the destination?

This week we're heading to the North Norfolk coast for a walk between two of its best-loved seaside towns – Sheringham and Cromer. 🌊

Following the coast between the two, you'll get big sea views, clifftop paths and plenty of fresh Norfolk air before arriving in Cromer – where we think a little reward might be in order! 🐾You can choose to follow the coastal path or, when conditions and tides allow, take to the beach for part of the route – so you can pick whichever option suits you and your four-legged walking companion best. 🐾

There's plenty of parking in both Sheringham and Cromer too, so you can choose which town you'd prefer to start your adventure from.
🚂 And you don't have to walk both ways! There’s a regular train service between Cromer and Sheringham, so you can walk the coast in one direction and catch the train back — particularly handy if four paws (or two legs!) have had enough by then. 🐾

It's a lovely one to add to the list if you and your four-legged holiday companion enjoy a proper walk rather than just a quick stroll.

And with a seaside town waiting at either end, there are plenty of opportunities to stop, explore and refuel along the way.

Now for the important question…

After a good coastal walk, what are you choosing – fish & chips or an ice cream? 🍦🍟

And what about your dogs – still ready for more walkies, or straight back for a snooze? 😂🐾

Hello September 🌾

There's something rather lovely about this time of year in Norfolk.

Golden light, green countryside and just the first little hints of change.

The days are still long enough for adventures, the beaches begin to feel a little quieter, the hedgerows are filling with blackberries and autumn is waiting quietly in the wings.

For our four-legged visitors, that means plenty more beaches to explore, countryside to sniff and Norfolk paths to wander. 🐾

We're looking forward to sharing more of our favourite places, walks and little corners of Norfolk with you this month — along with a few new touches at Saretta too.

Are you hanging onto summer for as long as possible, or are you secretly looking forward to autumn? 🍂

🌿 August at Saretta

And just like that, another summer month draws to a close. 💙

August has treated us to some glorious weather here in Norfolk – long, warm days, blue skies and plenty of opportunities to enjoy life outdoors.

The hydrangeas have been putting on their beautiful late-summer show, Sea Palling welcomed visitors and locals for another wonderful Lifeboat Day, and we've been reminded again just how lovely this part of Norfolk is when summer is in full swing. 🌊🌸

But perhaps our favourite thing about August has simply been embracing the slower moments – a quiet walk, a potter on the beach, big Norfolk skies and those long evenings when there really doesn't need to be anywhere else to go. 🌾

Now our thoughts are beginning to turn towards autumn… although we're certainly not packing summer away just yet. There are hopefully plenty more warm days, beach walks and evenings outdoors still to come. ☀️🐾

🌊 Saturday Spotlight – Mundesley

Colourful beach huts, a beautiful stretch of sand and all the charm of a traditional Norfolk seaside village… this week's Saturday Spotlight takes us to Mundesley. 💙

The row of brightly coloured beach huts overlooking the sea has to be one of our favourite sights here – especially on a sunny day – but there's plenty more reason to linger.

Take a stroll along the beach, have a wander through the village and browse the local independent shops, before finding somewhere for a coffee, an ice cream or a bite to eat. 🍦☕
And keep your eyes peeled while you're exploring… you never quite know what you might find in Mundesley. 🦖👀 There's even a rather enormous T-Rex waiting to greet you at the crazy golf!

It's one of those lovely places where you don't really need an itinerary – just park up, have a potter and see where the day takes you.

And sometimes, those make the very best holiday days. 🌊💙
