Wednesday Walkies 🐾🌾

This week’s walk swaps sandy paws for peaceful countryside paths with a lovely stretch along part of the Weavers’ Way near Stalham.

If your dogs enjoy quieter walks away from the beach crowds, this one is well worth exploring 🌿

The route takes you through beautiful Norfolk countryside with open fields, hedgerows, little bridges and plenty of sniffing opportunities along the way. It’s a really relaxing walk where you can properly slow down and enjoy the surroundings.

One of the things we love most about this area is how peaceful it feels — especially early mornings or on cooler evenings.

✨ Big open skies
✨ Quiet rural footpaths
✨ Wildlife spotting opportunities
✨ Ideal for dogs who prefer calmer walks

🚗 Parking:
Lots of parking available in Stalham

🚶 Typical circular routes:
Around 2–5 miles depending on which paths you choose

There are several different footpaths and loops in the area, so you can easily make the walk shorter or longer to suit you and your dogs 🐾

Saturday Spotlight 🌊

This week’s Saturday Spotlight is Happisburgh

Guests staying at Saretta may recognise it from one of the vintage-style Norfolk posters displayed in the kitchen 😊

Famous for its iconic red and white striped lighthouse — the oldest working lighthouse in the UK — Happisburgh is one of those places that feels beautifully wild and unspoilt.

It’s also a place that quietly tells the story of Norfolk’s ever-changing coastline, with parts of the cliffs sadly being lost to coastal erosion over the years. There’s something quite moving about standing there looking out over the sea and seeing the power of nature firsthand.

Keep an eye out too for the striking Happisburgh Time and Tide Bell on the beach — designed to chime softly with the movement of the tides as a reminder of our changing relationship with the sea 🌊

The beach itself stretches for miles, with huge sandy expanses that are perfect for peaceful walks, wave watching and letting the dogs enjoy the sea air.

📍 Parking postcode: NR12 0PW
🚗 Public parking available near the lighthouse and beach access

Definitely worth a visit if you enjoy quieter corners of the Norfolk coast with plenty of character, history and big Norfolk skies 😊

If you fancy a bite to eat or a drink in the beer garden, The Lifeboat Tavern is just a short stroll from Saretta 🍻

Their summer opening hours are now in full swing — and they’ll also be showing the FIFA World Cup matches for those who don’t want to miss the action while away by the coast 🌊⚽
They often have live music sessions too and visits from

A perfect place to relax after a long beach walk - they are also, of course, dog friendly 🐾😊

Wednesday Walkies 🐾🌊

This week’s walk is a lovely coastal route from Cart Gap to Happisburgh — perfect if you enjoy big sea views, quieter stretches of coastline and a proper Norfolk seaside feel.

Starting from Cart Gap, you can follow the coastal path towards Happisburgh, taking in the iconic lighthouse and some beautiful cliff-top scenery along the way.

Because of the seasonal dog restrictions on Sea Palling beach (1st May – 30th September), we’d recommend sticking to the coastal path for the first section rather than the beach itself during Summer months 🐾

Once you reach Happisburgh, there’s plenty to enjoy:
✨ The famous red and white lighthouse
✨ Dog-friendly village atmosphere
✨ Great sea views
✨ A lovely mix of coast and countryside

🚗 Parking if driving:
Cart Gap Car Park – NR12 0XN

🚶 From Saretta:
Roughly a 35–45 minute walk depending on pace and route

The route can be as short or as long as you fancy, and it’s especially lovely on cooler mornings or evenings when the coast is nice and peaceful 🌊

Have you done the Cart Gap to Happisburgh walk with your dogs before?

Here's a little insight behind Saretta........

🐾 MEET THE OWNER BEHIND SARETTA 🏡💙

One of the loveliest things about Pack Holidays is that our cottages are not just “holiday lets.”

They are homes created by people who genuinely, deeply love dogs.

And today we’d love you to meet lovely Sam — the owner of Saretta in Sea Palling. 🐕🌊

Honestly, once you hear her story, Saretta makes complete sense.

💬

“Hi everyone! I’m Sam, and I thought I’d share a little bit about the person behind Saretta and why this cottage means so much to me.

I’ve worked in various roles within animal welfare for the past 30 years and have fostered, rehomed, hand reared and cared for countless dogs and cats over the years. Dogs have always been at the centre of my life, so creating a genuinely dog-friendly holiday cottage felt incredibly important to me.

When the opportunity came up to take on Saretta, I felt very proud to become the new owner of such a well-loved cottage.

Growing up, my family holidays were always here in the UK and some of my happiest memories were made on simple seaside breaks together. I think that’s stayed with me, and a big part of what I want Saretta to be is a place where people can slow down, relax, and make those same special memories with their dogs by their side.

Having owned nervous and reactive dogs myself, I also know how difficult it can sometimes be to find suitable holiday accommodation where those dogs feel truly welcome. Becoming part of the Pack Holidays family was really important to me for exactly that reason — every dog deserves the chance to enjoy a holiday, whatever their personality or quirks.

One of my favourite things about Saretta is just how close everything is. Within a couple of minutes you can be on the beach, enjoying a drink at the pub, grabbing coffee or ice cream from the cafés, or popping to the local shop — it really does make for such an easy, relaxing holiday atmosphere.

There’s something magical about the beach, the dunes, and the peaceful feeling here, and I really hope Saretta’s guests feel that too.

There are lots more improvements planned over the coming year, and I’m always thinking of new ways to make Saretta as welcoming, practical and dog-friendly as possible. I absolutely love seeing photos of guests and their dogs enjoying the beach, the cosy evenings in, and everything Sea Palling has to offer!”

💙

And honestly… THIS is why Saretta feels the way it does.

Not just dog-friendly.
Not just secure.
Not just practical.

But genuinely thoughtful. Created by somebody who understands reactive dogs, older dogs, rescue dogs, muddy dogs, anxious dogs… all the beautifully weird little souls we share our lives with. 🐾

Thank you Sam for caring so much. It really does shine through in every part of Saretta. 🌊

May at Saretta 🌊

Whilst May has been a calmer month for projects and updates here at Saretta, there’s still been plenty happening 😊

The biggest excitement this month was Saretta’s professional photoshoot with the lovely Charlene from Rio Lottie And Margos Adventures, and we’re absolutely delighted with the beautiful new images now live on the Pack Holidays website. We'll pop the link in the comments for anyone who’d like to see the updated gallery 😊

It’s been lovely seeing guests continue to enjoy the peaceful beaches, cosy evenings and slower pace of life that makes Sea Palling so special 💙

Thank you so much for all the lovely comments, follows and support recently — we really do appreciate every single one.

Now… roll on Summer 🌞🐾
