Everywhere to visit in Sedbergh this bank holiday.

Start at Three Hares for pastries, coffee and cake. Get out on the hills, Yorkshire Dales one way, Lake District the other. Nip round a few of our favourite local spots, the Sleepy Elephant, mug_story_57 , the flower shop, and Strickley Farm .

Dinner off the A La Carte menu at The Black Bull, stay the night in one of the luxury rooms. Finish it all off with Tsuchi seven course tasting menu.

We will see you in Sedbergh!

Meet the Robinsons!

James Robinson is the fifth generation of his family to farm Strickley, just outside Kendal, land they’ve worked since 1875. Alongside his parents, his wife Michelle and their two sons, James runs a herd of Dairy Shorthorns and has farmed organically since 2006, building hedgerows, ponds and wildflower margins that have made Strickley as well known for nature as it is for milk.

On 25th September we’re taking GROUNDED up there for its first outing. A morning farm tour, a look round the dairy, lunch by the lake using Strickley’s own produce, then dinner back at Three Hares with James and the family, cooked family style alongside a few other local producers we love.

It’s the first in what we hope becomes a little festival of food and farming. Spaces are limited for this one. Message us if you’re interested!

Black Bull Walks: Akay Wood & River Rawthey Walk

A short walk up through Akay Wood past the redwoods and the old oak, out to the Pepperpot viewpoint for a look back over the valley, then down to the river and home along the water. Good for an hour free before dinner, or a lazy morning with no plan beyond fresh air.

2.3 miles it takes roughly 60-90 minutes.

Grounded: a celebration of food and farming.

On 25th September we’re heading to Strickley Farm for a day that starts with the land and ends with the table.

A morning tour of the farm and dairy, lunch by the lake using Strickley’s own produce, then dinner at Three Hares with James Robinson and family, served family style using Strickley and other local suppliers.

It’s the first in what could become a regular fixture. DM us to find out more.

Fancy stretching your legs?

The Dales Way, Luneside & Craggstones walk starts right from our door, out along the River Rawthey, up through Craggstones Wood, and back down over open fell with views across Sedbergh the whole way round.

11.7km, roughly 3 to 4 hours, moderate going and can get muddy after rain, so bring proper boots. Not suitable for prams or wheelchairs.

Scan the QR code in our last slide for the full route, or ask at the bar and we’ll point you in the right direction.
