The best of Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 begins at the border and the Five Turrets is one of the best places to enjoy this wild and beautiful country. It’s where the tartan is made: we’ve got whisky, fishing on the Tweed and wildlife aplenty. Cycling? World class mountain-biking. Food? Amazing local produce. History? These were the debatable lands: for centuries utterly lawless. Defensive towers dot the rugged upland landscape. Fought over by Scotland and England. But hey, that’s all behind us now. We’ve just added our 2027 prices to the booking calendar: it tends to fill up quickly, thanks to the straight five star reviews we’re still receiving eight years after opening. The professional reviewers like us too: we’ve been recommended by Cosmopolitan, The Times and The Sunday Times, The Guardian, Telegraph and Independent. Good news: we’ve held the experimentally-lowered 2026 prices so there are some great bargains still available this year. The differently-good news: we’ve had to raise prices for 2027 to cover rocketing costs. But we’re still amazing value for money. Prices start at £18 per night per person for a week with eight people staying. Yes, £18.
Anyway, you can book directly through our website - link in bio - or google Five Turrets. We’re always the cheapest price, but you can pay more and book through bigger platforms.

We’ll let you into a little secret: the best of Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 begins at the border.
Sure, you can fight it out with the crowds in the Highlands, if you like busy.
Or you can enjoy the glorious tranquility of the Southern Uplands.
Same whisky, tartan, history, fishing, castles, food and drink, scenery. Just slightly lower.
Up to you. Oh, and of course our prices are a bit more competitive, should you be looking to stay in what Cosmopolitan called a “fairytale miniature castle”.

It’s seal pup time in the Scottish Borders.
Looking like another good year: we recommend the short walk to the first couple of beaches at St Abbs, where you’ll see pups up fairly close from early November.

Dolphins and seals on the Scottish Borders coast at St Abbs today.
A lot of people don’t realise there’s a fantastic coastline with amazing beaches.
But it’s there and this is a great time of year for a day out. In a few days there will be hundreds of seal pups on the beaches. That’s the first born today (I think - still had the umbilical cord) at Pettico Wick - an easy walk along the cliffs.
We’ve still got some availability this month and next if you want to catch sight of the seals. There are always dolphins around - but it’s pot luck if you see them.
Meanwhile we’re booking up very fast for next year, so you know what to do - check the dates you want on our website and book there. It will always be the cheapest available price.
