Our pub sign has been lovingly restored and looks wonderful back home! For those interested in what it all means...

The historical coat of arms originally belonging to William Pytt, alias Bennett, of Pythouse (Wiltshire, England). In classical heraldry, each element on the shield and the crest carries a specific traditional meaning:
1. The Shield (The Escutcheon)The Double-Headed Eagle Displayed: The central red (Gules) eagle with two heads traditionally symbolizes power, nobility, imperial authority, and sharp vigilance. Because it looks in both directions, it represents looking both into the past and into the future.The Background (The Field): The shield is split vertically down the middle (per pale) into gold (Or) and silver/grey (Argent).
