The stunning views can be enjoyed from the conservatory and the lovely garden, offering the perfect visual tonic to relax and revitalise, perhaps with a cream tea, or refreshments from the licensed bar and bistro. Local is Best……with prime farming land all around us we usually have access to fresh seasonal produce and quality fish and meat.The Bistro welcomes non residents offering fresh fish and daily specials, open from 5.30-8.30pm.

🍂 Autumn has arrived on the Isle of Wight, but that certainly doesn’t mean the fun has to stop!

While the summer sunshine may have said goodbye for another year, there’s still plenty to see and enjoy around Shanklin and the island. The beaches are just as lovely for a bracing autumn stroll, with a little sea breeze and cooler air making it the perfect time to wrap up warm and enjoy the coast. 🌊🍂

Shanklin Esplanade still has plenty of its attractions open too, so there’s no shortage of things to see and do.

And being right next to the clifftop path, The Clifton is ideally situated if you fancy an autumnal coastal walk. Follow the path along the cliffs and take in the beautiful views all the way towards Yaverland, or head in the other direction and explore Shanklin Old Village, with its charming thatched cottages, independent shops and cosy places to stop for a bite to eat. 🏡

So, if you’re thinking about a little autumn escape, don’t write off the Isle of Wight just because summer is over. There’s something rather special about the island in the quieter months. ❤️

One of the comments we hear most often from our guests is how much they love the unique character and charm of our décor.

Throughout The Clifton, you’ll find a carefully collected mix of hard and soft furnishings, each adding to the warm and individual feel of the hotel.

Our cosy snug bar features a beautiful marble fireplace mantelpiece, while throughout the hotel you’ll discover an eclectic collection of vintage decorations, Turkish-style rugs, Tiffany lamps, handmade tapestries and beautiful cushion covers.

We also have collections of antique books and magazines celebrating the history of the Isle of Wight and Britain, adding little touches of history and nostalgia wherever you look.

It’s these little details that make The Clifton feel so special — a home from home with plenty of stories to tell. ❤️

Here at The Clifton, we’re lucky enough to boast some of the most beautiful views across Shanklin and Sandown Bay.

Perched right on the clifftop, our Bay View Rooms and Premier Suite offer the perfect spot to sit back, relax and take in the scenery. Just imagine enjoying a morning coffee on your private balcony, basking in the sunshine while Culver Cliff shines brightly in the distance. ☀️🌊

Not staying with us? You can still come and enjoy the view! Our award-winning garden is the perfect place to unwind, with stunning coastal views and plenty of space to relax.

And, of course, no visit would be complete without something sweet… 🍰☕ Enjoy a selection of our homemade cakes and cookies, freshly baked in-house and served alongside the view.
