SHEBBEAR SQUARE
The wide square contains the "Devil's Stone" Inn, two shops, a farmhouse, the Doctor's house, the Church room and three dwellings.
The Inn, built 1678 has four double and one single rooms for residents, a Restaurant open in the summer, and bar. It has about 50 visitors daily, and 6-8 residents weekly. Charges are very moderate.
The village shop goes back 400 years. It sells food, toys, wines, sweets and to***co, fuel, stationery etc. About 100 people use the shop daily. Prices are higher than in the supermarkets
but it offers convenience. Thursday is the busiest day.
The Korna shop sells wool, haberdashery, shoes, decoraters'
products etc.
The Church room is used for smaller village meetings. The old
oak tree is beside it, and underneath the oak is the famous devil's stone.
