When walks are starting to look like 🌞 again rather than 🌧

Even mud can't put us off when the weather is this glorious!!

It's such a joy to have all this right on our doorstep and even more so when nature provides the perfect soundtrack to every wander

A holiday at Shady Hall Farm isn't just for humans but for our best furry friends too!

We love being able to offer the space for your pooches to run free and explore as they accompany you on a weekend retreat to the countryside.

We have plenty of walks that start at the farm and feature dog friendly pit stop pubs on the way before you return to your home from home for the evening ✨️

It's felt like winter would NEVER end but we've FINALLY started to see the sun again, the birds are singing brightly every morning, the air is slowly warming up, and the ground is waking little by little.

Time to dust off the walking boots and get outside and recharge in the sunshine (even if there's still not that much of it...yet!)

The transitional month of March is on the horizon and we cannot wait for longer days out exploring the countryside

It's the little things you do...

Recently we thought about all the small touches that have become standard practice here at Shady Hall Farm and thought it was about time we celebrated the little things too!

We receive so many lovely comments from our guests and the most common are:

"You've thought of everything!"

And

"It felt like home from the moment we walked in"

So without further ado...

1. HEATING we always make sure our barns are warm and toasty before you arrive so no sitting in your coat whilst the house warms up

2. CUPBOARD ESSENTIALS there's always supplies for hot drinks when you arrive, there's nothing worse than a long journey and nothing to wet your whistle when you walk in

3. TOILETRIES don't worry if you've forgotten to pack something! We provide all the essentials. Don't waste space in your suitcase bringing towels, we have got it well and truly covered

4. LOGS you'll find a good supply of firewood, sticks, and firelighters so you can sit by the fire on your first night

5. CANINE COMPANIONS bringing a dog? We have a little treat for them too and plenty of towels and blankets for rainy afternoons

6. CHILLED we think every stay should be celebrated so there's bubbly ready to pop, milk for a brew, and some scone topping essentials

7. HOMEMADE we bake fresh scones on the morning of arrival, you deserve a treat!

8. BUBBLES our hot tubs are up to temperature and ready to enjoy from the moment you arrive, so there's no waiting around for the fun to start

Whilst we had a short break and shut down in January, we have been busy decorating and the biggest transformation has to be The Cow Shed!

She was never ugly before but the new paint colours and adding MORE has made such a dramatic change to the vibes!

The before video was filmed on a sunny day in May, compared to the after on a very grey February morning, but the warmth in the after? We cannot get over the difference 😍

Perfect cosy drama vibes in our opinion ✨️

You might be surprised at how much the countryside begins to change as February gets under way; the birds beging practising their morning tunes, the days gets SO much longer, snowdrops silently push their way up through the ground and into the sun, and the nights get clearer. We might even get some snow, to be enjoyed in the gorgeous February sunshine!

We think its a pretty magical month to get outside and experience nature slowly coming back to life, especially when you know you've got a hot tub waiting for you when you get back from your exploring!

Hello, it's been a WHILE!!!

Christmas, New Years, and all of December passed in a blur that's flung us into January feeling tired but oh so grateful for the year we've had!!

As we take our little 2 week (well deserved) break, and find time to refresh our minds and bodies (hopefully) we just want to say THANK YOU to each and every person who stayed with us in 2025 ✨️💕

We've hosted 529 guests (not counting any dogs!) And this year probably marks the most of you we have met in person which has been really extra special! We love to give you space, that's what we have plenty of at the farm, but it's been so wonderful to chat and giggle with you where we can!

Meeting guests from the UK and beyond (shout out to our Berlin visitors who brought us little presents from Germany) has been one of the huge highlights from 2025 and we can't wait to welcome new and returning visitors in 2026 💖

Seeing big smiles on all your faces and being able to provide the space for your family celebration, your university reunion, that special visit for a wedding, or a birthday celebration (we could go on) is the very core of what we do here, so again, THANK YOU!!!!

*WARNING CHRISTMAS CONTENT*

We don't like to decorate too early here at the farm but we love it when we do and we are getting rather excited to get the barns all trussed up!

We get all the trees and trimmings up from 1st December so every barn feels "Christmassy" all month long 🎁🎄🌲

When your afternoon dog walk gets much more exciting due to a very close Deer encounter!

🦌💚🍂

We have more and more of these beautiful animals making visits to the farm, last month a fawn and their mother went bounding over the driveway, we regularly shout "look DEER" from our bedroom windows, and today, this gorgeous deer went bounding past me on the dog walk!!

Everything slowly fades to oranges and browns, the sun is lower but bright, crunchy leaves underfoot, cosy pub dinners after a long walk, and big breaths in of crisp air 😌
