Our wild rabbits have been stealing the show lately, happily hopping right by the caravans as if they own the place. It’s such a joy to see them so relaxed and at home, adding a little spark of charm to everyday life. 🐇💚

And just when we thought it couldn’t get any better… we’ve welcomed a brand-new highlight—a family of adorable baby ducklings! Watching them paddle across the water in a perfect little line behind their mum is guaranteed to make you smile. 🦆💛

🎣 IMPORTANT NOTICE – LAKE TEMPORARILY CLOSED (SPAWNING) 🎣

At Sunnyside Caravan Park & Fishery, the wellbeing of our fish always comes first 💚

Our lake is currently closed due to spawning. We will let everybody know as soon as it’s back open, but in the meantime, here’s a little information to help you understand why this is so important 👇

🐟 What is spawning?
Spawning is the natural process where fish reproduce by laying eggs and fertilising them in the water. It’s one of the most important stages in a fish’s life cycle and ensures healthy fish stocks for the future.

🐟 Why is it so important?
During this time, fish become extremely active, often moving into shallow areas and using a lot of energy. It’s a stressful and exhausting period, and they need peace and the right conditions to successfully breed.

🐟 Why do we close the lake?

Disturbing fish during spawning can cause them to stop breeding altogether, meaning no new fish for the year
Fish are more vulnerable and can easily become injured or stressed
Eggs and young fish are delicate and can be damaged by movement in the water
Allowing them to spawn safely helps protect the future of the fishery

🐟 What you might see:
You may notice fish thrashing in the margins, splashing in shallow water, or gathering in groups – this is completely natural spawning behaviour.

🙏 We understand this can be disappointing, but this short break ensures we keep our fish healthy and our lake thriving for years to come.

🎣 Respect the spawn, protect the future!
