If ever you need persuading to take a trip to East Devon, aside from it being an area of stunning natural beauty, it also plays host to quite possibly the best tearoom & garden in the UK.

The Black Dog at Uplyme is always on our visit list - 10/10 every time from both of us - service with a smile and a cracking good cuppa.

I have no idea where January went – but on the positive spring is on the way!
On that note we are pleased to announce that our 2026 diary is now open, and Red Rose Cottage is once again available for your short breaks and longer summer vacations. Set in the very centre of the charming Regency town of Sidmouth, it is the ideal base to while away your break exploring everything that our British seaside has to offer. Lovely shops, bars & cafes, exquisite scenery, rugged coastline and easy access to the city of Exeter, and surrounding towns.

This family-friendly Sidmouth cottage is located by the sea, within a 10-minute walk of Dorset and East Devon Coast, Sidmouth Beach, and South West Coast Path Section 45 Trailhead. Norman Lockyer Observatory and Jacobs Ladder Beach are also within 1 mi (2 km).

Gemütliches und komfortables Wir haben die Woche in Sidmouth sehr genossen! Das Städtchen ist süß und sehr Britisch. Das Cottage liegt zentral und trotzdem ruhig. Das Meer erreicht man in fünf Minuten zu Fuß. Die Ausstattung ist einfach einwandfrei, es gibt nichts was es nicht gibt ! Die Betten, das Badezimmer, die Küche, der kleine Innenhof etc. - alles einfach perfekt! Und in der Küche warteten sogar Kekse, ein ganzer Schokoladenkuchen und eine Flasche Sekt! Super Gastgeber!

We really enjoyed our week in Sidmouth! The little town is cute and very British. The cottage is centrally located yet quiet. The sea is a five-minute walk away. The amenities are simply impeccable; there's nothing you can't find! The beds, the bathroom, the kitchen, the small courtyard, etc. – everything was simply perfect! And there were even cookies, a whole chocolate cake, and a bottle of sparkling wine waiting for us in the kitchen! Great hosts!

Ideal home to stay in Sidmouth
The house was in a perfect location - a few minutes walk to the beach and the shops - but away from the hustle and bustle. Spotlessly clean, easy to communicate with the owners and everything you could need was in the home for a perfect relaxing break!

Always a pleasure to receive great feedback, but it is usually after a guest has left. The lovely Claire couldn't wait that long to tell us - fancy there being a home made cake on arrival - anyone would have thought one of the owners was a dab hand in the kitchen!
