Skegness and Ingoldmells Beach get huge sand deliveries

Several beaches are to get some tender loving care from authorities. It’s a job they hope to get completed in time for this year’s busy summer holiday period.

The work, which is being carried out by the Environment Agency is currently underway on beaches including Skegness and Mablethorpe.

Officially called ‘nourishment’ work, it’s a major effort that is seeing sand shipped into the Lincolnshire area ahead of the summer holidays, reports LincolnshireLive

In all, the nourishment works will see 400,000 cubic metres of sand arrive on the East Coast. .

The Environment Agency will see a dredger transporting the sand from offshore sites and pumping it at high tide through a pipeline.

The sand will then be pushed into place using bulldozers and excavators. While Skegness and Mablethorpe are the best known beaches to get the nourishment treatment, there are many others too.

These include Ingoldmells, Trunch Lane, Wolla Bank, Chapel Six Marshes, Trusthorpe and Huttoft. Work began this week but throughout the works, sections of the beaches will be closed off to the public.

Butlin's Skegness unveils 'Most exciting playground in the UK' to open in 2023

Butlin’s has announced plans to open a major new playpark at its Skegness resort next year as part of a £2.5m investment. The East Coast resort will open its newest attraction, named SKYPARK, in time for the 2023 Easter break.

Described as "the most exciting playground in the UK where everyone can play in the sky, day and night," SKYPARK will offer children of all ages and abilities the chance to play together. It will be free to access and included in the price of the holiday, the park will also feature the UK's longest seesaw.

Alongside SKYPARK will be a new café and outdoor terrace, serving drinks and light snacks. The new playground and cafe will cost £2.5million with SKYPARK being designed for children up to 12-year-olds, although everyone can get involved with plenty of family play options available.
