🌿 Walk of the Week – Week Two: Garway Hill Circular
Every Monday throughout June we’re highlighting one of our favourite local walks — perfect inspiration for your next adventure while staying at Three Castles Caravan Park.
This week, we’re heading over the border into Herefordshire for a route that’s all about big skies, wild open commons, and breathtaking 360° views.
👣 Week Two: Garway Hill Circular
This 6.1km moderate circular walk takes you across the beautiful Garway Hill Common and up to the summit of Garway Hill — one of the most impressive viewpoints in the region.
From the start, the trail leads you through peaceful pastures and quiet country lanes before beginning the steady ascent. At the top, you’ll find the radio beacon base and some of the most far‑reaching views you can imagine: the Malverns, Black Mountains, Brecon Beacons, the Gloucestershire Hills, and even the Bristol Channel on a clear day. It’s a perfect spot to pause, breathe, and take it all in.
After enjoying the summit, the route descends past the radio mast, skims the edge of a small woodland, and continues through open fields towards Garway Hill Methodist Chapel, before looping back to the start.
✨ What to expect:
🌄 Stunning panoramic views from the summit
🐑 Free‑roaming sheep and ponies — dogs must be on leads
🌾 A mix of open common, quiet lanes, and field paths
🌧️ Can be muddy after rain — waterproof shoes recommended
🪜 Several stiles, which may be tricky for larger dogs
🕒 Around 2–2.5 hours to complete
🦅 A great area for bird‑watching and wildlife spotting
Walkers often describe Garway Hill as peaceful, uplifting, and full of character — a place where the scenery changes constantly as you circle the hill. Even the road sections are quiet and scenic, and the views from the top are worth every step.
📅 Keep an eye out next Monday as we reveal Week Three’s Walk of the Week.
